In east Asia swastikas usually have a Buddhist connotation. It’s really interesting actually, pretty much every culture on earth has used the swastika at some point but then the Nazis hijacked it and you can’t see one without assuming it’s Nazi related

The "Symbol" inside literally reads "Iroha", tho written in a logo-type of way. The い(i) is hugging the ろ(ro) from both sides while the は(ha) is encircled by the ろ(ro). Written normally, the japanese way it would look like this: い (i) ろ (ro) は (ha)

I watched a documentary about this Tradition, and there it was said by a Japanese man that this is not meant to be inhaled. And I also do believe that it is not meant to be inhaled, since pipe and cigar smoke is not meant to be inhaled. Only with cigarettes really it bacame a thing that the smoke is being inhaled, at least afaik.

Similar, but not the same, and they originate from separate places of course! Medwakhs these days generally have a built in filter, whereas Kiseru pipes never do, to name on difference, although usability wise, they are much more similar than not of course

jacob, there's no way it can be the metal that smells. pipes aren't made out of soft metals with a low melting temperature. it's either some sort of coating or just genuinely the taste of the tobacco.

Fascinating hearing about Japanese pipe smoking. The very fine shag cut is uncommon in pipe tobaccos in the west, although I came across one recently that's fantastic - GL Pease Penny Farthing.

Hey Jacob, I find the majority of your videos to be enjoyable. However, I would like to bring up one point. From what I see, you're smoking too fast and aggressively, and I'm not sure how you'll test the drag and texture of the smoke. Not to mention the initial taste. Seems like Japanese cigarettes are just higher quality in general. My main brand in the US is Winston Reds, would be a treat to try the Winston Cabins. Japan tobacco has offices all over the world. I think originally they were Philip Morris. don't quote me. and Japan tobacco bought them at some stage. kazami tobacco is just really a blend it's a style of tobacco not necessarily Japanese and does not have to be grown in Japan.

I have never seen someone repeat the same meaningless phrases so many times: "I will have to admit" "Certainly no complaints on my behalf" "If I do say so myself" "I ain't gonna lie y'all" "That is for sure" No joke, each of these were probably said 20 times each. You don't have to say those at all and your sentences won't lose anything besides wasted time & sounding like a broken record. Also, if you want to read the kanji on the packaging, use google translate's photo application. Translations aren't always perfect, however you can usually figure it out for the most part and it's better than nothing.
