XR600R TAKING THE LEAD!

I got a good start and worked the #xr600r up to 1st place in just a mile or so. I kept the lead for another mile or two and lost it to Dustin Morgan. Dustin fell soon and I let him right by. He has been beating me by 5+ minutes per race so there isn't any point in holding him up. I managed to keep him in sight for the whole first lap.
I almost had to race the DRZ!
I finished 2nd of 8 in the 30+ class and 18th OA out of 100.

Love the vids. My first scramble was on a CR500af. It was a four hour race. Lost my clutch at the 2 hour mark. Still finished and managed 7th out of 23 riders. Love the fact you are kicking ass on a older ride. Good job.

Totally understand, why take the time if no one is watching but sometimes I wonder how accurate the KZbin algorithm is... the mighty xr 600 i road it like you did to get noticed in the australasian dirt bike magazine back in 2002 . seven deadly sins ktm tour. flat out for 6 days in the bush. my headlight was smashed fist day . very underestimated bike.. before the ride i was thinking who's guna catch me.... 52 years old now raceing fc 450 came 3rd last year over 35s. still got it.

Awesome riding. Never seen a track like that 1. Definitely not for amateurs in my opinion. I'm from east tn. It's cool to see an xr600r running out front. From 85 to 2020 the engines pretty much the same from what I've studied up on so far even the front brake caliper. Goes to show how well honda had their stuff together then and now

I might find myself having to do this on a heavily modded DR650 in the future. The only problem is our stuff up here is rocks and a lot tighter. Run what you got! I watch you for inspiration 👍. New mic sounds good but my wife said she could hear your “sexy breathing” LOL. That’s what she says to me when I’m panting in the camera. Nice ride sir!

Hayden Flinner nice! You in a club? I’ve done some ECEA events on my beta. Won’t have that this summer though so no events for me this year unless I borrow a bike. Life should never get in the way of riding but sometimes you can’t help it. I’m eyeing a DR for when life settles down. I’m no AA rider like this guy but I can hold my own on bikes that are unconventional for the terrain. Granted, I’d need some conditioning before that. My wife and I do most of the options at the Michaux and 7 Mountains dual sports on genuine Japanese dual sports. We enjoy the punishment 👍

Lol,just by chance I found results from the 1983 Sandlapper. Good event. At least in 83 it was. I think it was a National. I was hanging with the Factory Husky guys at the resets. It was like sitting under the Honda tent at a SX

How do you think you'd do on an XR400? I wonder if it would end up Quicker with slightly less weight to throw around, or Slower due to Lack of Power/Torque compared to the Mighty XR6! Put a Seat Concepts seat on those drz for the trip. It's totally worth it. You can get just the cover and foam and use the factory pan, or the whole kit with a new pan. Depends on your budget🖖

@@fastguysslowbikes They seem to be a pretty decent upgrade to the stock cartridge forks. I rode my buddies stock xr650r and his other one with the crf450 fork. The crf450 fork has much less deflection in it and the overall feel was a lot better. Probably doesnt matter much to you because you haul ass anyways.

I don't know why you call the XR 600R a slow bike. I have an 85 XR 600R and it beats my 88 YZ 490 in a drag race every single time and I have beaten other 2 strokes in drag races too from 250 cc on up. I switched bikes with my brother and it's always the same result. This 600 comes from a long line of victorious FLAT TRACKING bikes from Honda which evolved during the late 70's and early 80's. Also , with all due respect to the venerable XL 600 , it's not in the XR 600's league and has a vastly different engine. Alot of people think the XL was an XR 600 r with lights. That was totally wrong. The top end of the XR 600 is also formidable for a 4 stroke. It LOVES to rev out.

Compared to a modern 450, the XR makes 10-20% less horsepower, weighs 60 plus pounds more, and has 9:1 compression ratio vs 13:1.

@@fastguysslowbikes the 85 had 10:5 to 1 compression ratio btw and it weighed 262 lbs. No way a newer 4 banger 450 is weighing in at 202 lbs .In any event the old XR is definitely not slow. Maybe a bit slower than a KTM 450 exc but not by much.

@@fastguysslowbikes . wet the old XR tipped the scales at just over 300. I don't know where you got 321 from. 40 lbs heavier , probably but no way is it 80lbs and NO WAY a 450 is 200lbs dry . Stop using drugs. A cr 125 back in the day was around 200lb's dry. Don't get so upset we are just discussing here. A 2021 KTM sxf weighs in at 100 KG, that's around 225 lbs DRY.

If you got 18th OA out of 100, then the riders there are fast.XR600 or not, You are ripping right along always forward motion with a charge. I would think top 10 at least.
