my last one was a 01 XR650R, It was a great bike. Uncorked it and used stock exhaust except for the drilled out spark arrestor. It was very underrated by the motocross only crowd. it was faster than a lot of two stroke guys were prepared for. Never lost a race to my buddies one on an RM250 and the other on a KX250. I wished I still rode but i'm 60 with a questionable knee now. I can't risk racing any longer, gotta finish building up that retirement.

The biggest thing I notice about your riding is how smooth you are. You don't make a lot of mistakes and the bike always seems perfectly happy with the pace. Never sounds like you're revving out the engine a ton or bogging it down.

That's the XR. They pull like a mule, the suspension is perfect for that type of riding, there's so much mass it can't ricochet off everything. Point it and that's where it goes. This guy has skills as well. Together it's a perfect mesh. He'd be awesome on a XC two stroke. It'd bounce a lot more though.

Just not as big of a deal as folks like to make it out to be, in my opinion . I am not a competitive rider, but I ride all types of terrain. A knobby tire with air/bib in it will take you lots of places, fast. I'm not a 'small talk' guy and tire choice is one of the first subjects to come up when the small talk ensues. 😂

I am an absolute amateur, but I did get to compare a proper sandtire and a normal hard pack knobby on a sand track and even I felt the difference. But that said, a skilled dude could whip my ass on any old crap bike with bald tires.

At 27 I thought I was in great shape, until I tried a new sport hare scrambles... omg was I wrong. These FLA sand whoop courses absolutely kick your but! But I still love it and miss it. At 57 I don’t think I would do it again.... great ride Jacob, you wear us all out just leaning, breaking and feeling every bump on the trail! Great. Video!

Well Jacob, not sure if you read replies. But after watching your vids for the last year or so you inspired me to want to ride again. I'm 47 and haven't ridden in 15 or so years. After looking for an xr 250 or 400 for months and not finding anything clean. I found a nice 06 crf 450x and brought it home today. What a leap 4 strokes have made. It's fun and plenty of power but not like the old xr's I grew up loving. Thanks for inspiring me to ride again. Now I have to find my grandson a 50 and get him started. Love your vids, keep them coming man.

@@thomaswebby2431 with 2 smokes are not good for anything else aside from competition. You could take that big 600 out the track to head home 100s of miles, without worrying about rebuilding the top end and doing almost as often as filling the tank.

Great video and great riding! I love it! I love how you told them "this is one bad bitch, I don't care what you say!" Back in 1996-2000 I had a 1986 XR600R that was bored out, had an aftermarket piston that was higher compression, it was rejetted and it had a Super Trap exhaust, it was extremely fast! At that time I lived in Tucson Arizona, that motorcycle was well suited for the desert! I called my motorcycle"Clementine." Hahaha! Thanks for sharing the great video!

I had an XR600R with SuperTrapp on it, I appreciate how difficult it is to ride such a beast with finesse between those trees and on soft loamy stuff without washing out. Truly amazing ride bro. For the record there were at least 5 times I crashed on your video! thanks for sharing!

The old big bore XRs are very capable bikes... very reliable, gobs of torque, and comfortable suspension. With practice they can be tossed around pretty well for their size. I had a 1984 XR500R for over 10 years and it was one of the best bikes I ever owned. Great video, thanks.

Another great ride on the 600, what a walk down memory lane that was so thanks alot. I've had two XR600R's a '90 & '98, now have a XR650R and a CR500. Did two seasons of hare and hounds on the 600 in north Wales in '03 & '04, only air cooled bike there and got a few top 10 finishes. Good times! The 600 is lighter and more nimble than my 650R which is now set up for adventure so heavy af! Must get another 600 one day, first one I had in the 90's had a big finned and ported head with huge headers and supertrapp. It was a grunter!

I raced years ago and bought a crew 600 and loved it. Scott summers was a super fast pro and I rode his bike once he rode mine. The only issue I had was starting it especially at the start and after a crash. I came back several times to place on podium. This brings back some great memories running the mid south harescrambles series. Keep it rolling and have fun!!!!

I have an 82 CB750 that I restored and took it riding with all my sport bike buddies , when I pulled up they chuckled and asked “what are you going to do with that thing?” Well needless to say I couldn’t run 120mph down the interstate, but when we got In the twistys they couldn’t hang with the old Steed! Lol if your ever In Tennessee, send me a message on Fb. I know fb is outdated etc. lol I have a nice 8 mile loop cut at my house, then I have 3-4 more options to ride also. I’ll break out the KLR 650 and we can hit some trails and back roads

Guess the people making fun at the start were quiet at the finish lol. Awesome to see you ripping an old 600 and beating all the new tech. Raced one in gncc for 7 years back in the day they are a bad bitch as you put it, although heavy they handle very well. Friend of mine also raced one, we went to a 2 hour hare scramble one sunday, went 1-2 then went to an outdoor are across on way home with bikes and gear all muddy, guys were laughing at us until we lapped our class. Keep up the videos they are very enjoyable. Would love to see some that are not from your go pro but watching you actually on the track racing . Thump thump

Impressive! Sounds like you’re wrestling an alligator...probably feels like it too! Talking while riding helps you forget the pain while you gain! I’ve got a 99 WR 400 with kick only. It has an after market compression release cam which makes starting a no brainer. No having to find tdc. Just kick anytime, anyplace. Wouldnt trade it for anything...well maybe a new 2020 WR 450 if someone offered. I regularly pass the young guys on the knarly, rocky trails up here in north eastern Ontario Canada. By young I mean guys in their late thirty’s and early forty’s as I’m in my sixty’s. You’re going to drive up the prices of those old XR 600’s with that kind of riding performance! Wow! I would just be putting some massage therapists kids through college if I owned that XR.

Thanks for such a great video Fast Guy. You had me weighting my outside peg, looking through corners, trying to see through dust and shadows and remembering how much fun it was to roost the guys on bikes way more suited to the tight stuff than my big XR. I haven't been racing for a few years now due to a chronic case of tendonitis (Tennis Elbow) of the go fast arm. Hey, I am 56 and probably past my "best by" date anyway. I loved the video!

PROPS! Sick footage... I had a similar experience racing a '97 Dr 350 in a VCHSS 4 stroke C class race..we put on a tire and removed the license plate. There should be a dual sport class------brappp
