Whenever Kevin sings instead of beatboxing, their chords become so much more sophisticated and complex. Nobody takes a break in this band. They exploit every drop of talent each of them can contribute. Happy Holidays. 🤗

This is very beautiful. Kevin, as a string instrument player with perfect pitch, loves to be a part of these tight, squeezed chords, and it's always nice when they bring out the 5 part harmony. Another of their 5 part songs, an original written by Avi, is Run to You. I'd love to see your reaction to that one.

My granddaughter played this to walk the isle at her wedding. It was perfect. I love your observations about what is happening musically in the song. I sincerely hope you go back and listen to them without interruption afterwards.😊 There is a flow that gets lost, and I would hate for you to miss that part of the listening experience. Happy new year!

It’s important to note that they are doing this in a slow 4 rather than in 6/8. This adds poignancy to the song. Their use of chordal extensions ( like minor 9ths) is killin’! What really blows me away, though, is the ending A9 chord! Avi is singing the fundamental contrabass 3rd ledger-line bass clef A and the chord creates these overtones that makes-to me, anyway-the group sound like an organ! As a composer-jazz pianist, these people continue to blow me away! I’ve loved PTX since I first heard “Angels We Have Heard On High”! Talk about about jazz changes! Check it out... it’s early-2013, I believe. Avi was the basso profundo on this. It too ends on a major nine-chord, with Scott singing the 9th.

It's months later now, but not long after your interview with Ben Bram, who co-arranged this with Kevin. To give a slightly different perspective on the arrangement, here's Ben & Avi's 2017 A Cappella Academy class performing it - so about 60 voices instead of just 5. Not bad for a group of 13 to 18-year-olds, right? This happened about 3 months after PTX released their video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHSudYZrns57jLM
