I have 66 Chief 800. Used to use it as a kid around my parent's house and my dad just gave it to me a few months back. That lil 8hp loves pushing snow

My dad bought the identical machine to yours, only with the 10 HP Kohler......the Chief 1000. I ended up with it as an adult and had it for many years before I finally traded it on on a new tractor in 2001. I still have all the sales brochures and manuals for it like yours, and they are in really great condition, ie; not all greasy etc and not all torn up. We had the 36 inch deck and the 42" snow blade. This sure brought back some great memories. It cut a a LOT of grass in its lifetime.

That’s a great story! I wonder if the manuals are worth anything? This mower had a wheel horse snowplow on it when I got it but I took it off and sold it. I got a nice set of tire chains with it too. Those old kohler engines just run and run!👍

@@beesprojects2692 Yes they did/do. Ours never burned a drop of oil. My neighbor is an old guy that has a boatload of International CC tractors and they al have the cast iron Kohlers in them as well. Not sure if the manuals would be worth a lot, but since Jacobsen made the same exact tractors for Ford, Oliver, Minneapolis Molene and a couple others, all in their respective color schemes, they might be worth something more than I know. I still have the chains my dad bought new for ours in 1969. Ours was actually a left over NOS 1968 model. I had Goodyear R1 tires on it for many years and they were awesome in the snow. I never even used the chains with them and about 100-125 lbs of steel I beam shims under the seat in the tool box. Ours/mine, still had the original tires on it in 2001 when I used it as a trade in and they were all still in excellent shape. They were just like yours. 23X8.50-12 rears and 16X6.50-8 fronts. It's hard to tell in the thumbnail pic for the video, but it appears your front frame that surrounds the grill is the cast aluminum version they used at some point. Ours was the cast Iron version. Our hood had the screw knob on each side up near the front that held the hood down.

@@404nitro yep this does have the cast aluminum front and the center console is cast aluminum as well. I do believe that the tires are original and are Goodyear and are in excellent condition. I do have what I believe to be a “1963” Cub Original with a 7hp Kohler that I will throw in a video just to get some input on restoring or leaving it the way it is. The interesting thing about those is that they have the same transmission as the Farmall Cub without the PTO so you could actually take the back plate off and put one in if you wanted from what I’m told. As far as these Jacobsen/Ford/Oliver/Minneapolis etc tractors, I don’t think they hold a very high resale value because they made some many of them but nonetheless they are a neat old machine for sure!

@@beesprojects2692 Ours had the cast iron front and center. It was a solid old tractor. I know one thing that hurts their resale today, and that is- it is hard to get any parts for them. All original NOS was sold to a company called Corrls Tractor supply IIRC, and they closed their doors many years ago now. I did buy some parts from them before they closed up, but I have no idea whatsoever what happened to any remaining NOS parts they had left, which they told me wasn't all that much even way back in the '90's.

@@404nitro wow, yeah that makes sense. I know I couldn’t find the lower steering bushing for this tractor when I originally started restoring it so I jumped on the lathe and made one. Luckily they are so simple that you can pretty much keep them going. I ended up buying a bunch of parts from a local small engine business that was going out of business about 8 years ago and there was quite a bit of NOS items in there. I had planned on putting them on eBay for sale and never did.
