i love the way this model of Jacobsen tractor looks, i thinks it's because of the size, not big, not real small. thank u guys for the video, i know the time it takes to film and edit.

Nice. That engine looks and sounds almost identical to the engine in my 1954 Ford NAA. I think Jacobsens were built close to me here in Stroudsburg, PA. They were once Worthingtons, I think. Lots of them appear at the local shows.

I think it is, it's a Ford 172ci Industrial. I believe some of the 800 series used them too... Sounds about right, I have the older brother to this one out back, 1960 Worthington G-6.

Here's an old trick, Put a ballast resistor between the coil and the distributor! It gives the coil 12 volts which it LOVES, but lowers the volts across the points so they don't get burned!

I could be wrong but was told many times, coils are really made for 6 volts, the reason for resistor is that battery volts drops a lot when the starter is used. when running coil gets voltage thru resistor. when starter solenoid or starter is operated, a wire from solenoid or starter also goes to the coil.

I'll say one thing; that '61 is some sweet puppy. I would fix her up, spray the cab red, and you could put her in parades. They used to run a GMC 351 V6 in those, or the larger 405 . The 351 was very good torque at lower speed. Very widely used, from pickup to small dump trucks, to trucks like your flat bed. Does yours have a 2spd rear..???? They did love gas, though.... I think you do top shelf work; no short cuts, clean and neat, and real professional. Best Regards.....
@5Tractorguy4 жыл бұрын
'61 still ears it's keep around here. Some day when I have a shop there's some stuff I'd like to get squared away on it. Yep, 2spd rear and a 5spd main. And I put a 3spd aux in for an overdrive gear. Thanks W2, appreciate it!

I have a question for you Sir. Does not relate to this topic at hand but here goes. When it comes to Briggs and Stratton engines larger than ten hp. single cylinder, vertical shaft made in the 80's on, what were the H. P. made ?? Also, what larger single cylinders where overhead valve engines ??? Thanks a bunch too.
@5Tractorguy5 жыл бұрын
According to my 1995 master price list... single cylinder vertical shaft engines were offered in 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5, 13, 15 and I think 16.5. Every HP up from that was twin cylinder. OHV engines were 15hp and up. This is only from the '95 book, as time went and the Intek plastic shroud line came out, those were all OHV starting at 12hp and running to 18-20hp (I believe) in single cylinder. 80's may have had a 10hp vertical shaft.
@victoryfirst28785 жыл бұрын
@@5TractorguyWhat about the bolt pattern of the single cylinder vertical shaft engine hp 11 to 16.5. Are they the same ?? Thanks for the information too.
@5Tractorguy4 жыл бұрын
Those should be far as I know. Whenever I swap engines on lawn tractors, most of the B&S vertical shaft engines in the HP range kept he same bolt pattern. Even between the 80's/90's flat heads and Intek's.

what is the wheel base of your 61 chevy and how is the ride quality? i am shortening a 64 3 ton for a fifth wheel hauler . trying to figure out how short i can go thanks.
@5Tractorguy6 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob, I'll see if I can measure it some time in the next couple days, haven't had a chance this week... Ride quality isn't bad. I have IFS, Chevy and GMC did that for 60-61 before going to I-beam fronts. With a load it floats down the road. Even if you chop the '64 kind of short, I think you'll be okay with enough weight on the trailer.

Good afternoon 5Tractorguy and channel subscribers. I live in Ukraine, I assembled a self-made tractor, and on my self-made tractor an analog gearbox is installed, as in this video. I'm interested in the question. On the tractor Jacobsen G-10 with what brand of car is the gearbox and differential of the rear drive installed?

What serial number G10 is that? Looks like a late 60’s model. I’m working on a 1975 model with a 192 engine in it.

hey i have an onan welder generator and it runs great but it doesn't have much power when i weld i took off the 2 batteries and put one on there is that the problem or do you have any ideas for me
@5Tractorguy7 жыл бұрын
Hey Josh, Sounds like the generator head isn't putting out enough power to weld. That should be separate from the batteries.... Your rheostat might not be working properly for voltage control. (Assuming it's an older model and you can access it...) May have to pull the cover and clean the contacts on the back. If not that, well, it's over my head. I know there are a couple more components to those but I don't know how to diagnose them.
