Definitely an absolute gaggle of male Karen's, though I do think it was inappropriate of the salesman to say that 'line' and genuinely creepy that the manager encourages them to say it. I'm sure the dude didn't mean it maliciously, but being a woman and having a stranger come to your door who won't take no for an answer when you refuse his services and ask him to leave, and then makes a comment about whether you find him good looking or not - I'd be uncomfortable at best and scared for my safety at worst
@Sophie-bf6zd Жыл бұрын
I couldn’t find any comments that were disagreeing with the salesman, and I’m glad you said this! It is absolutely inappropriate, and the argument that most people find it funny isn’t valid. You are invading someone’s private, safe space, to get their money, and also make it impossible for them to deny you without a great deal of discomfort. Granted, I despise door-to-door sales people (really any of them, it’s such a slimey, pushy, disrespectful industry), but I do think the ‘male Karen’ was actually completely right. And the fact that the manager went down specifically to confront them! So unprofessional and I would also feel completely uncomfortable if not a little anxious to be approached by these men.
@danniuwu8628 Жыл бұрын
I was looking for a comment like this! Having someone go up to your door of your house and saying that can be pretty scary. Like, if he's trying to hit on you, your door is open! He can just come in if you reject him! I feel like they kinda overreacted on the response to it but it was certainly not cool. Maybe just have a civil phone call and not a street meetup.

big agree. like, you don't know the person's intentions or how they will behave, and in the worst possible situation, they know exactly where you live. even going up to the one woman's house and asking if she was 'offended' was weird, because how are you supposed to react when 4+ strange men show up at your door?

@divitiae Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Unless you feel like it actually needs to be recorded for evidence, all it does is escalate the situation. I think people knowingly do it thinking they can intimidate the other person or for imaginary internet points

@registeredjopper Жыл бұрын
I don't think you need to feel unsafe to record a situation, and that is a relative feeling anyway. "Karens" have felt emboldened for decades because they never were held accountable for their actions, hence why the ever-present filming is now a thing. now people feel constantly emboldened to intimidate others with public shaming/humiliation/scrutiny by filming and posting everything with a narrative. there's no real balance because people will always take advantage
@donalddarko5807 Жыл бұрын
I think it's best to film since a lot of these people are quick to lie to the cops. They also steal and break property a lot especially if you're a skater or Biker. It's honestly crazy how many clips there are of people taking kids boards, helmets and even keys. Though leaving before an issue comes up is a great option if possible.

I hate to agree with that last old dude, but like man… he did kind of harass his wife honestly. Like it takes a weird turn but for sure if some random dude came to my GF’s door and went “Is he as cute as me?” I, too, would be upset. That’s super scary to have happen as a woman bc the wrong answer can in fact lead to some weird violent stuff. It sucks!
@Arosukir6 Жыл бұрын
Weirdly, in the case with the "good-looking as me" thing...I'm actually on the side of that husband. Like, if some random guy showed up to my door who wasn't a delivery dude or something, I'd already be a bit nervous. They might say they're a salesman but how the hell do I know that for sure? My mom and I once had folks come to our door that we only found out later were creepy cult members that do human trafficking! And then if he starts seeming like he's *flirting* with me?! Nah bruh kindly gtfo of my doorway. That's creepy. So presumably the wife told her husband that some random guy creeped her out by making a joke about himself being hot, and the husband probably yelled at the dude and called the company to complain. Likely overreacting, but I can see where it came from. Then the owner of the company, instead of understanding how a joke like that might be inappropriate, essentially mansplains how "salesmanship" works. Then goes and bothers *another* woman and makes her come and say that she's not uncomfortable with the handsomeness joke. And then talks about schooling the old man or whatever. Nah dude, fuck that younger guy and his goons! And if you disagree with me, that's fine. But first ask yourself: would that dude have made the same handsomeness joke if the husband had been the one to come to the door? Personally, I doubt it.
@registeredjopper Жыл бұрын
yeah, no shit he wouldn't lol. selling to men vs women require different tactics to be successful, plus there would always be the concern that you catch some homophobic loser that attacks you for making a vaguely sus comment to them. also, how was the reaction (bringing a group of grown men to dress down teenagers) not an overreaction? were they hoping to get an apology? run them off their block? what was the point?

I agree with your assessment. As a single girl in an apartment complex, we get a lot of strangers ringing and it totally creeps me out. I can’t tell if they are genuinely trying to do their job or checking out my location. I live on the ground floor with a window to the road, which is why I feel especially on edge. Sometimes guys will make jokes to break the ice, but as an Individual who experienced SA from a young age and was once abducted, these jokes actually seem like part of the trap. Not all men are predators(!) it is hard for me to differentiate it though and since things did go wrong for me I am aware of the consequences if I am “not careful enough”. Mad respect for dudes who are aware of this and keep their cool.

@@registeredjopper you shouldn't try to sell your body if you're trying to sell a product 😭 lmfao wth kinda things they train salesmen? Nah I agree with the guy talking to the salesmen, it's annoying as shit when they won't leave after the first no and it's even worse if you're a woman and it's a dude trying to pull the whole flirty thing (ESPECIALLY if you're home alone and someone does that shit) Edit to add; that kid was also extra annoying, fuck him. man that last one with the kid just bullying some random old man for no reason made me so angry. they all did, but that one was just so particularly needless and literally harassment. At the very least my gut reaction would probably be to scream back, and I’d have a very strong urge to throw their phone on the ground, because what the hell you can’t just do that. Act like human beings maybe, the rest of the world isn’t grade 7. It’s not being a “boomer” or a “karen” to be upset when somebody is literally harassing you directly, unprovoked. Thanks Jacob. Having cement poured this week while I have to be out of town. Better not find an overall-shorts wearing gnome stuck in the corner. 😡

Old men loosing control of their emotions and then realizing how fucked up it was, and trying to play it off like they were just worried and being a good man. 😂 never fails to crack me up.

U.S. citizen here, I watched just for laughs TV on KZbin when I was in high school. The best prank show ever! Very wholesome. Could do without the laugh track, though. Impractical jokers and carbanaro effect are U.S. examples of less problematic prank shows.

Its so funny that they always try to claim theyd be liable for injury, because just like any other extreme sport if you get injured whole boarding, only you are liable

Not gonna lie, as a woman that salesman would’ve also made me hella uncomfortable. I would be scared to react so as to not upset him because 1. I don’t know this man 2. I don’t know if he’s even a legit salesman and 3. This guy has come up to my door, uninvited, and will not take no for an answer. People like that creep me out because crazy shit happens. I keep a pellet gun (not a real gun, just shoots metal beads, hurts like hell but not deadly lol) by my front door for situations like this that go south. Anyway yeah I’m with the husband 100%, don’t come up to people’s houses and put them up in uncomfortable situations like that. Also fuck the dude saying he’s just a “kid making money” like dude no you are not a kid, at all. Yeah you may ACT like a kid but you’re definitely not

My favourite prank to date was from Just for Laughs Gags - super simple, no screeching at random strangers, none of that. Just a dude in a beekeeper suit absolutely hauling ass through a public park.
