Those shrimp are likely de-veined already, though. That's only something you need to do if it's whole shrimp, which it wasn't. But yeah, she used pre-cooked frozen shrimp, and he used raw. Which, honestly, might've made the dish better, because they wouldn't have been massively overcooked and rubbery like the original probably was.

ham and bananas hollandaise was super popular in the 70s for some reason. I've found accounts of people saying they enjoy it, but I've never been able to figure out WHY it came into existence in the first place. Was there a surplus of bananas? Was it seen as a luxury? Was it just some sort of sick joke? I need answers.

Allegedly, I he popular banana breed that they ate back then wasn't as sweet as the stuff we eat now. That breed of banana went extinct, so now we eat a different kind. I’m not on TikTok but I’m happy to see a food account that’s not purposely rage baiting, it’s just simple southern people. Does it always make sense? No, but it’s fun to watch and everyone’s moms had their own way of cooking. My mom cooked pretty simply too but we’re midwestern so it was lots of mayo and steamed vegetables from a can depending on the season and not a lot of flavor. I love that this mom is like whatever son this is what I’m cooking you can put it on the internet
@MontyDotharl3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure it's so genuine, some of this is definitely done to get attention. But it is at least much, much better and less cynical than stuff like the people spreading food all over the counter or in a toilet or whatever. It feels more like they're purposefully playing up the Southern characters, but it's still at least adjacent to what they're actually like. Like they're parodying themselves.

Here’s my famous shrimp Alfredo recipe because that shrimp Alfredo hurt my soul 1. Get a bag of frozen bad of large deshelled and de veined shrimp and thaw it out in water. 2. Pre heat some water with enough salt to make it taste like salt water and two tablespoons of olive oil. 3. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter on medium heat in a deep sauce pan and add as much garlic paste as your tastebuds can tolerate. 4. I don’t have to explain how to cook pasta. Cook it al dente 5. Once the shrimp is thawed and the butter is melted season with Cajun seasoning, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, old bay, paprika, Cayenne powder. Over season. Season until you are sneezing. 6. Once shrimp is fully cooked, add your fav jarred Alfredo sauce. 7. When pasta is drained, add butter to the pasta. As much as you want. More than a tablespoon maybe? Idk I measure with my heart. And finally MIX it had made friendships and kept my relationship alive. It has made shrimp haters eat shrimp. I believe it could resolve all man’s conflicts.

It’s one of his favs and several of his Filipino and Korean friends also enjoy it though, plus 90% of my disgust at that combo come from not liking eggplant or mustard, so it could also be a MUCH more popular sauce/combo/solution than I am aware!)

my dad would do the water-in-the-alfredo-can thing, but he'd just put in enough to shake it and get the rest of the sauce. josh and momma just love being hydrated i guess

I mean the first sandwich is kind of a toast Hawaii ( toasted bread with ham cheese and pineapple it’s really popular in Germany ) btw the banana dish just looks like German asparagus but instead of asparagus she put banana

I mean, bananas wrapped in bacon and fried/baked is actually pretty good. The problem would be the sauce and the mustard
