looking at this film makes you realize why Jackie was so remarkable in USA history, she was so young when she became first lady,that brought fresh air to the White House.Of course she was elegant and charming,her way of speaking and her style reflects it perfectly, but what’s more interesting is how intelligent and informed she was,hearing her talk about the history of every detail in the White House proves how interested she was,also she did not only new a lot of USA history but before going to any official trip she would research for information and be ready to learn about other cultures. Truly admirable woman. 🤍✨

“It looks like it was decorated from discount stores.”- J. Kennedy when she arrived at the White House. She wasn’t wrong. When the Kennedys arrived most of the houses furnishing had been supplied by a NYC department store. All who come to the modern White House owe this Lady and committees who advised her a tremendous debt. And since the period pieces displayed here had to be found, a huge debt is owed to the private citizens who’d purchased the original house furnishings at auction usually- much gratitude for giving, not selling, the items back to the country. Mrs. Kennedy was a class act- always- when in the public eye and represented this country beautifully. It should be remembered too that she led the country in quiet dignified mourning after the death of her husband.

You can maintain it, but to just TEAR it out and destroy the beautiful originality is just a final middle finger to this woman. I truly hope any future occupants of the White House restore Jackie's rose garden.
@tashaglam48244 жыл бұрын
@Tsang Tsung You mean the 2-star hotel lobby garden outside the White House? That rose garden? Because that isn't a rose garden. It's a piece of land that has cobblestone sidewalks and plants that are going to die since Melania was dumb enough to plant new shrubs and trees that will quickly die since she planted them in the humid air of Summer. Ripping out the crabapple trees Jackie planted to "move them somewhere else" just killed me because there is no replanting them. They're dead for good. All of those magnificent, colorful and healthy tulips are gone forever. It hurts because every first family since the Wilson's contributed something to that once magnificent garden. Melania literally ripped out DECADES of hard work for the most materialistic, elitest, dull, and lifeless garden I've ever seen.
@Anna-rv3fv4 жыл бұрын
@@tashaglam4824 the crab apple trees were replaced three times before Melania came along, they weren’t even the same kind of tree that Jackie planted. I love Jackie's tour, but I don't understand why it was not filmed in color. Does anybody know?
@neptuneninja5 жыл бұрын
Colour TVs weren't common enough in the US at the time. So it wasn't practical to film in colour at the time.

@@neptuneninja the above comment about color television not being in full use at that time the bigger story, and most programming was not done in color. Also people did not realize the historical significance programming at the time. Definitely this would have been great and color and perhaps it could be colorized. In fact I'm sure it could be. I could listen to her explain American and White House history all day. President Kennedy was also quite knowledgeable about American and White House history could you imagine if they'd done the tour together?

Lisa Sheridan indeed Jacqueline Kennedy is truely a Jewel of a First Lady with unlimited grace. You can really tell how much pride she has in the history and items in the White House. As for your comment on JFK, on the full televised version of the tour JFK joins in at the end and talks about how Jackie done such a wonderful job in the refurbishment of the White House. I think you can find it on KZbin. It really is nice to see the both of them together in happier times. Also another fun fact Jackie also won an Emmy award for this tour so that shows how well of a job she done. I'm actually Australian but I find US history, we'll all history so interesting and I'm just glad they filmed it for prosperity.

Although I consider myself more on the opposite side of the political side, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy will always be my all-time favorite First Lady. While far from perfect (as all of us humans are), John Fitzgerald Kennedy did an outstanding job with regard to the Cuban Missile Crisis. RFK was such an unsung hero in those efforts as well. I assert, and will until my dying day that the legitimacy of the American Democratic Party ceased to exist on Friday, November 22nd 1963. I had the privilege of visiting the eternal flame, visiting President Kennedy's grave at Arlington National Cemetery around 1980 or so and although I was only 13 at the time, I felt so very moved by it...

I was nine years old and in the fourth grade at Bremer Elementary School in Minneapolis when Kennedy was assassinated. I remember the next several days--the lying-in-state, the funeral, and the burial at Arlington. (The murder of the accused assassin on television was a jarring note!) JFK was okay. He treated other nations with respect, he worked to reduce Cold War tensions, the economy was good, he skillfully resolved the Cuban Missile Crisis, and he signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. A forward-looking fellow. . . .

Jackie is the prettiest First Lady in the history of America. She speaks with class and dignity . Her glamour is unmatchable. She is the boss of her own life . President Kennedy and Jackie’s sad marriage was cut short by that horrendous assassination.

Jackie had much tragedy in her marriage to Jack. The womanizing & they lost a baby daughter & also a son before her husband's assassination & after her death came John's & her daughter in law. So sad. BUT Jackie was poised & classy & well spoken. She knew alot about the history of the White house. 🙏 RIP

well she did get a lot out of marrying Jack Kennedy. The wealth and prestige for one. She was obsessed with France nobility.
