I just found your website. I really enjoyed this pedal rod replacement video. Also, you speak very well. And your direction is very easy to follow. All the best.

That's really funny that you stumbled upon the video through a strange recommendation, but thanks for watching! I'm glad you found interesting and hopefully you'll be all set, should you ever find yourself repairing a harp!

I found this fascinating as well, and I only play lever harp (for now). Someday I’ll acquire a pedal harp. I’m one of those types of people who, when I want to know what time it is, have to understand how a clock works. Your instructional videos really help demystify the pedal harp!

I'm so pleased to hear this! I always like to understand how things work, especially if I'm going to fix them. Good luck with your pedal harp dreams!

I would advise adjusting the bottom coupling so that the rod and coupling are the same length as the old rod and coupling. There’s a good chance that this will be the correct setting for operating the discs, and also putting the rod into the correct tensioning.

i am Jacqueline i have harp called salvi harp the strings get broken very loud.what should i do
@JacquelinePollauf22 күн бұрын
It is hard to say exactly what you should do without seeing the harp. I would start by replacing the broken strings. I have a video about that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHeYoXecarOkb5o Good luck!

I’ve never even touched a harp but here I am watching the whole thing just in case I need to replace a pedal rod I suppose.

You are not alone! You would be surprised at the number of people who tell me that they watch this video, despite not playing or working on harps. And who knows, maybe someday it'll come in handy!

Can I ask where you purchased that pedal rod? That is the exact kind I need to fix my wife's concert harp. Thanks!
@JacquelinePollauf6 жыл бұрын
Pedal rods are highly specific. The only way I've ever purchased them is the through the harp maker, so I would start there. If your wife has a Lyon and Healy, or Salvi, etc., I would begin by contacting the company directly. You'll then need to provide the exact model of your harp (e.g. Lyon and Healy 85 or Salvi Aurora), and also which pedal it is (C, D, E, etc.). They'll then ship you the part.Good luck!

Will do and thanks for the video. My wife's been playing the harp since 1979 and this is the first rod she's broken. Now, at least, I can help her fix it.

Thanks! I find most things about harps fascinating, but I don't exactly have neutral vantage point...

hahah! True! I would just be so worried about breaking my harp mid-gig! (I am such a thumper on my harps! :P )
@JacquelinePollauf8 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's too much of a worry, since it's so rare. Many harpists never have a pedal rod break.
@Cardiffweddingharpist8 жыл бұрын
oh good! I thought So! (I'm such a worrier! and at least I'll know how to fix it if it every happens to me! when I upgrade to pedal!)

My D pedal rod broke and now while in need to buy another one I have this question: is every pedal rod the same, that is, I buy one rod and it fits all pedal harps and any string? Also: where can I buy? Who sells?
@JacquelinePollauf3 жыл бұрын
So sorry to hear about your broken pedal rod! The rods are not the same, but each one is different, so you will have to buy specifically a new D pedal rode. Generally you want to buy one from whoever made your harp, for example if Lyon and Healy built your harp, I would get in touch with them directly. Harp.com does sell pedal rods through their site, but only for Lyon and Healy and Salvi harps: www.harp.com/product/pedal-rods-individual/ Good luck!

Wow ! This is a wonderful video ! It takes the scare of breaking a rod, and the possibilities of "do it yourself", and saving a lot of money ! Thanks and God Bless ! Revelation ch14

When I own a harp of my own (I rent) I think I’ll just stick to the technicians

Sounds like a plan! And, if it's at all reassuring, this is a very uncommon type of repair.

Jacqueline Pollauf yeah, I figured considering the fact that I hadn’t hear about it happening to anybody
