I've always adored this song since I was 12 years old. I even prefer it over the version from "Jacques Brel Is Alive And Well" because Brel's interpretation of this song is so unique and nobody can top it (I know I say that about all of Brel's songs lol) I'm 20 years old and I'll never stop loving Brel. Brelievers for life!

i tried to bring Brel as he performed his songs to Americans but it seems like his heirs would rather keep him for French speaking people. He said of an Alive and Well adaptation, " Ce n'est pas moi. C'est une chanson anglaise."

@@VNRose3 I was just watching the film version of "Alive and Well" a few minutes ago! Also it sucks that his heirs are greedy as hell and take down your videos. Brel himself would never take them down if he was still alive; in fact he said he wanted to share his songs with the world. And as much as I love "Alive And Well" I totally agree with the statement he made about it. For example, "les flamandes" doesn't even mean "marathon"! And the melody to "La Mort" (which was just in the stage version) was skewed so much it doesn't sound like the original at all; it sounds like a totally different song.

It wasn't just that they took them down but they caused my whole account with many videos I spent hours working over to vanish. 3 copyright strikes and your're out on KZbin. This was painful and mean. It's the INA and the Brel Foundation that make complaints. But you can see some of the translations on Dailymotion under the name Thelma Blitz Its OK to post translations in France where they are not needed! .@@lyricrogersofficial

@@lyricrogersofficial Alive and Well is just an introduction to Brel. People should pursue him in French if they like it.

leave it on Daily. Brel vids on KZbin have caused two of my accounts to be destroyed by complaints . I cannot safely post them.

this version is very low quality and the colours are bad compared to the other english translation video even though the latter had mistakes in the translation

This is a very old video I had on disc for many years. Sorry if it faded or was old tech. Original channel was deleted by KZbin for copyright complaints. I posted it to show the other translator "what mistakes?" . I always work with very smart Parisian who doesn't let me make mistakes.I am a native english speaker..
