Jacques Rougeau Responds to Kevin Owens Criticism
Multiple time WWE World Tag Team Champion and former Intercontinental Champion & WCW Star "The Mountie" Jacques Rougeau discusses his former student Kevin Steen who now wrestles in the WWE as Kevin Owens. Rougeau explains how he doesn't understand why Owens has seemingly gone out of his way to defame him and his long running wrestling school that closed in 2018 in recent years as Jacques says the last time he saw Kevin there was a hand shake and didn't appear to be any hard feelings. As shitty as Jacques' shows were then, at least for an adult audience, he always held them with the best of intents. He also used to train autistic youth to give them a chance to access physical activity (maybe he still does it). A great guy overall.

My favorite matches of his was his against Piper for the IC Title, and his feud with Tatanka. Jacques (and his brother) would always go out and give a great match. The only thing they refused to do was to lose in Quebec, when working for WCW or the WWE. Everywhere else, they were willing to lose or get DQed to make their opponent look good. I can't blame them. I think they were either running shows in Quebec or working in the Montreal promotion and were HUGE babyfaces and over with the local fans. The fans would have probably rioted if some American wrestler beat them in Quebec.

One of the 1990's Nintendo wrestling games had "The Mountie" removed from it when it was re-released digitally. Hogan as well. Now I see why - I stopped supporting the WWE. They literally don't care about their talent and them calling themselves an "essential" business during a pandemic shows this.
@chrismccune1408
@chrismccune1408 4 жыл бұрын
A secondary reason might be because they cant use the name "The Mountie" anymore after being hassled by the actual Canadian Mounties. That's also why he went by Jacque in '93 with the team being the Quebecers. Also, the song lyrics (hilariously) were changed to "We're NOT the Mounties! We're handsome! We're brave! We're strooong!" Plus, you're also probably right too. Vince is petty as all hell

There was another thing KO said also that what they did in Jacques' promotion was it was limiting in what they could do in the ring. Jacques admited that they could not do punches and kicks cause it was "too violent" and for the young guys who wanted to improve and be in touch with current ways of wrestling, they hit a wall. And KO could not just wrestle for 6 days a year either, he had to feed his family and had to get better in the ring with practice. When he left JR's promotion, he said it was freedom for him, he was wrestling all the time and could do the most innovative stuff possible and he became one of the best independants. KO can be arrogant but in this case, I think he was right.
