Glad to stumble on to this. Used to drive to the Fillmore on the weekend to see the Sons of Champlin in 1968/69. My favorite band at the time. Was a pro musician in the 70s and our band got to warm up for the Sons of Champlin at a large club once. That was a privilege. In my next band we had Peter Cetera's younger brother as our bass player - he could sing really great as well. We still correspond. Anyway - thx for posting, good to see Bill in great form.

Bill Champlin is the BEST interview ever! Longtime fan. Guy is so genuine. And, funny! Man, it's amazing to see or hear Bill Champlin-related. He's so candid & connected to the world of music. I can listen to interviews like this forever. "Champ" has mostly a universal reputation of treating his fans w/ the respect HE would want in a role reversal & I'll always (personally) say that counts for a lot. Connections ... my oh my! Champlin is a treasure. From the very first time I discovered Bill Champlin, I was drawn to his talent & bought up his solo works. Sometimes I wonder if a guy like him realizes how many people he's touched. Hope so. God Bless!

Bill's voice is one of the most recognizable voices in pop music whether it's Amy Grant, The Tubes, Chicago, Steve Cuetis Chapman, Earth Wind and Fire and George Benson to name a few...

Bill said that Chicago had a period in the mid 70s when they were in a funk. Not true. Chicago was killing it throughout the 1970s. They were in a funk from 79 to 81, which wasn't a long period of time.

Hard to appreciate david foster with his arrogance bigger than Texas. He may be good but he can leave his attitude and arrogance at home
