Great video as always. FYI - I work in a major craft store and have noted customers twisting the sealed bottles open because they think they can get a better idea of the color. If we're lucky they put the lid back on tight so it doesn't dry out. You never really know if the bottle has been opened or not. The stores will also pull older paint forward and put newer paint in the back. I always pull from the back.

I have struggled with these swooshes and your explanations and video has been super helpful. Consistency has been my problem and I never could understand what the problem was. I have done many mandalas but avoid the swooshes even though they look so good on other people's work. I am scared to use them and mess up my work. As you said, practice is key and that is what I have not done but will do so. Thank you. Fiona - South Africa

Great tutorial!! I have been wondering how to thin properly. 😊
@JaDeLRocks6 ай бұрын
Awesome… I started out just thinning my paint with water. I got so many comments about how I was ruining my artwork. I’m still not sure I agree with those comments, but I tried this product and I just love what it does. It’s still mostly water 😉 You just gotta practice with your own consistency and see what works best for you then it’s smooth sailing.

See? I could really learn to use a brush more. I just never knew that was a thing until this year. What’s bad is I love painting one stroke flower petals… totally swooshes and it never even occurred to me. 😂😂😂

There is a woman who really caught on teaching it around the world. Would you like to know who?
@JaDeLRocks3 ай бұрын
@@zyiasusie7937 I would love to know. I see Thoughtful Dots is really amazing with a brush and Susan Nelson. Ive spent all my time on the fine line brush…. I should expand my horizons eh? I just always thought that mandala art was special because you don’t use brushes. Maybe I should open my mind. I mean… I’m using a tiny brush ♥️ what’s the difference I suppose.

Oh you called me out!! I’ve been thinking the same thing. I might try it sometime but I’m still feeling like there’s more for me to learn on that one. I think I have that imposter syndrome they talk about. I, in no way, feel like a pro. But maybe if I look at it like I did this one? “I’m no pro but let me share what I’ve learned so far” might work. Let me think about that one a hot minute 😂😂😂 Thank you ♥️ I need the push sometimes 🤗

It’s a bugger to work out. For a long time using that flow aid I really couldn’t tell the difference. But I slowly started to understand what it did and honestly you just have to use it in practice. Eventually, you kind of get it.

For me also it was the amount of paint on my brush or stylus thats was also causeing me problems .Thankyou soo much for doing this. Finally, an excellent tutorial to help me master my arch nemesis, The Swoop! Best one on swooshes I’ve seen on KZbin! Thank you so much!! Just have one question about your ball tools. If you are using the tools from the Amazon link you provided (I use the same ones)the pink tool is actually the .8 mm and the yellow one is the 1 mm. I think you have it switched in this video. Am I right on that?
@JaDeLRocks6 ай бұрын
Thank you ♥️ no.. you are right but mine are swapped. My yellow is the little and pink next. I ordered these years ago. I just ordered 10 new sets and noticed my yellow tool isn’t so small anymore 😂 But.. I don’t feel like the pink is any smaller either? I’m going to sit down with it and figure it out. But in the videos just go by the sizes.. not the colors. It really does vary. My yellow has always been .8. But you’re not crazy judging by this order I just got 😂

You can totally use the eraser end of the pencil as a dotting rod, and you could use a toothpick for a tiny stylus. That should get ya until you can get a set. The stylus set is linked in the description and I think it’s really inexpensive ♥️

I think these are two examples: one is the shoosh, and the other is more accurately described as the dab and pull/push method. A *_swoosh_* is all in one motion: drop a dot, load the ball, add it to the original drop, and swoosh, pull... or push.
