Omoda and Jaecoo just launched in neighboring Mexico and are off to a strong start. The Chery Arrizo 6 was given an Omoda make-over and is sold as the "Omoda O5" and its price significantly undercuts the Jetta, Corolla and Sentra. B- and C-segment sedans are still strong sellers in Mexico and Stellantis are selling the handsome new GAC Empow as the new Dodge Attitude. From what I gather from here in the 'states, South Africans, like most countries, seem to have all but given up on sedans completely. The Omoda C9 is sold as the Exeed RX in Chile and the Middle East, despite the presence of Omoda. "Omoda" are sold as a Chery sub-line in Australia, much the way Ora and Haval are sub-lines of GWM in some countries and not separate marques. And Chery have Jetour as well and "Luxeed" in China! I too believe such brand proliferation is not a wise long-term plan.
