remember when people used to think that moving into your late 20s and 30s meant you couldn't play starcraft properly anymore
@fromryuk7785 Жыл бұрын
I mean flash himself said he's slower than in his prime mechanically due to his age/wrists. He said the 2010 version of flash would toy with him like he was a random ladder match. Just for some of these players they were so dominant that being slower than their prime doesn't impact them as much. But the game is evolving and some of the other players are really starting to catch up and blossom.

The mentality you discuss at 2:10 is true in Go (as in the board game) community too. Koreans and Chinese players love to aggress because stronger players will out "micro" their opponents in fights. Japanese and Western players will play longer strategic games because as the stronger players, why take risks when you can make hundreds of more efficient trades than your oppenent?

Dewalt's macro slipped at the end there. He was floating a lot during the fight with the Hydras. If he was able to play just a little bit more patiently there and macro out some additional units, I think there's a good chance he holds, though perhaps he just took the 3rd too early and JD hit just the right timing to punish it.

I thought it was pretty close. Around the 12 minute mark, if Dewalt had thrown down a few more cannon’s and turtled with his high Templar he may have held on just long enough for his 3 base to start spiraling.

If you notice JD always pulls one hydra to be the “watcher” of the other direction just in case DW surround him, then he could act quickly. Those micros are top notch! That’s why he won in each battle

what the just from analyzing this, it looks like Dewalt played this perfectly, he blocked the 9pool opener perfectly, delayed JD's 3rd base, killed off all mutas and scourges with corsairs at favorable exchanges, didn't over-make corsairs and spent a good amount on ground army, was constantly building his econ and even getting his 3rd early, had storms on time for hydras, got a huge amount of kills with a DT and despite all of this he still lost I remember back in proleague years, Jaedong had like 80% winrate in ZvZ, to the point that people said it's a different matchup playing against him, JvZ, Jaedong versus Zerg. It's not any different here honestly. This is like an elden ring boss battle. the odds are not in your favor. how do you even win this
@nafet Жыл бұрын
The corsair trades were quite bad actually. The additional corsair production stopped the gateway explosion needed to contest the zerg army, and JD's storm dodging was ofc good enough to carry him against 4 gates.
@FlymanMS Жыл бұрын
DeWalt is a very technical player, he always got good reasonable idea on how to act further, all he need is to perfect his skill in implementing those ideas.
@Matt-ln7lb Жыл бұрын
@@nafet It's not that they were "bad", just that they weren't "good enough"; the corsairs traded very favorably in terms of resources, but when you make that many corsairs, it's delaying other tech so much that they need to do more than just trade favorably. Zerg can transition out into Hydras a bit more easily, since it doesn't require different production, and Hydras aren't as gas intensive as the units needed to counter them. 6 corsairs is the same resources as 4 templar and 6 zealots (or 4 cannons), and that's a huge deal when the hydra push inevitably comes. Even 1 templar makes a huge difference in holding that push. This game might even be a case of Dewalt losing because he made/lost ~2 corsairs too many and missed out on ~2 templar as a result, which could have made the difference holding against the hydras.

With his timing on the first cannon I think he should have just gone for the nexus on 1 cannon. Brought 1 more probe there... also can you not block the hatch and the second one with a pylon (as in it's 2 spaces in thickness & height)? OR PERHAPS he genuinely wanted it to be put side by side for zealots to fit there.
