I am 64 years old and I LOVE these guys. I was 16 and spending the summer in Hawaii, the 1st time I heard Arirang sung beautifully by Emma Very. I have since found a another beautiful version sung by Rose Jang. Now I have another amazing version to enjoy. Arirang has been sung for over 600 years. It is so much a part of the culture of the Korean Peninsula that it was nominated by both North and South Korea to be a Unesco world intangible heritage treasure. I feel it represents both a common past and hope for a cooperative and Peaceful future for all Korean People. US citizen Praying for World PEACE.

For those who do not know, arirang is the most popular korean folk song. This is not a bts song, they are just doing a cover of it. Arirang has many versions to it in every region it's different, bts mixed all of them together to make this beautiful remix. there is no actual meaning to the word 'arirang'. Some scholars say that arirang is just a beloved phonetic to us Koreans. My take on it is that when it says '아리랑 고개로 넘어간다 (Arirang, crossing over the hill)' hill is like hardship or advisory. Korea suffered alot of hardship because of Japan's imperialism back in the early 20th century. In that time, Koreans sang arirang from the sadness of losing our country and "lets cross over this arirang hill" means lets come over our hardships together. Edit: to add to this, another beautiful version of arirang is So Hyang's take on it. I 100% recommend checking her version out. Her voice is probably one of the best in the world. Her vocals are no joke !! Edit 2: they performed it at france two years ago at k-con.

i just wanted to tell everyone that this song was originally sad. According to local folklore a young girl from the village of Yoryang fell in love with a young man who lived in the nearby village of Auraji which was separated from Yoryang by a river. On the pretense of picking camellia flowers that grew on the other side of the river the girl would cross the river on daily ferry and secretly meet her sweetheart. A fall flood caused ferry service to be suspended for several days. The girl composed a beautiful sad song to express her longing. The song eventually came to be known as "Chongson Arirang". @@sanriohamtori There is a difference when they speak in Satori (dialects). Jimin and JK are from Busan which is the most recognizable I would say (the voice pitch is lower and the language it self has some interesting twists), there's the Daegu dialect which Yoongi and and Tae speak and Jeolla dialect which is Hobi's. As for this song it has different parts of Arirang from different regions as far as I know. So maybe that's why it seems somewhat different. hope this helps somehow.

Well actually A LOT of bts songs have his low notes in them, but as a background voice. You'd have to have a pretty good ear to differentiate the many voices that are being sung at once and normally the lower tone voices are out shined by the boy's high notes. Same thing with Jimin. Disha Sarkar Well with Jin, maybe, but uneven line distributions within a song is because they wanted to play up voices with particularly good compatibility with that song. Yoongi can sing, but he's a rapper, and this song is mostly melodious. Jhope tends to do better at singing because he was originally assigned to be a vocalist in BTS.
