Update for the 2024 summer sale: The MiG-23ML has had its flight performance and radar considerably nerfed. It's still usable, but definitely not as good as it was at the time of this video's publishing.

@@isaac000215 i agree that it can be worth it for veteran players due to it being slightly cheaper (approximetly 7,7k-10k GE to grind a techtree) and that you get to play a variety of vehicles, but the downside for newer players are that you get the a speed boost in research but not SL meaning that they will most likely run in to issues of not being able to afford said new vehicles

I’m stuck choosing between the f-5c and kfir canard. While i am in rank 5 US air, israel is quite small and is probably a similar amount of RP to top tier. I have all of sweden air so I’m used to delta wings and not gunfighting (better EEGS when?). However the US tree has so much variety and interesting aircraft that a small tech tree such as israel doesn’t really have. Also nice way to play off the spelling mistakes! Jk lol nice content!

This is some dang good content, I really like the clear, color-coded text in this and the other comparison/missile videos. It's probably a good thing that most of these are middling or 'good, with caveats' since they're gonna get spammed out like with every sale. I'm currently nursing a desire to get the Kfir Canard because I like its looks, style, and BR, but its firepower limitations (and the fact that I have zero Israeli vehicles in air or ground) prevent me from pulling the trigger. If I wasn't already so far along in USSR I would definitely want to pick up the 23ML... my experience with the R-24's in the MLA was nothing short of breathtaking.

With bombs the tornado isn't even fast. I had the marinefleiger spaded and you will not beat your teammates to the bases. With the slow base respawn now you'll need to loiter around for minutes waiting for a chance to make your attack run and you will die 4 out of 5 times without ever getting close to a base.

Even tho I already had the MiG 21S and a few tier 6 planes researched I still wanted the MiG 23ML just to make the grind a little more bearable. Those R24R's are really good. MTI works well with them even when they are low above the ground and flying away from you, unlike a PD radar.

F-4EJ ADTW isnt that bad. Bring your drop tank and take lowest fuel and 200+ FFARs you can get 2 Zones which give you 60k+ SL and around 20K RP its boring but its a good grinder with good speed

I, an empath, bought the A-6 for 2 reasons 1: F-4S was not in game yet (peaceful times then) 2: it’s a Grumman plane (grumman is the goat) I don’t even have top tier ground, I just love grumman (which is why I used to play the f14 and a6 a lot)

I recently bought the F-4S during the New Years Sale. Although I originally had experience with aircraft such as the F8U-2, F-100, and the F-104, the experience between these aircraft and the F-4S is genuinely bonkers, but ultimately a great lesson. I originally thought the F-4S would be similar to how these played but I was naive in this thinking, and I suffered because of this as I never used radar guided missiles. After, learning how RGM’s work, as well as Pulse Doppler Radar, I quickly found out the F-4S is an solid B tier aircraft, especially when it gets uptiered (which happens quite often). However, when it’s at battle rating, or gets downtiered to 10.3, that’s when the Phantom goes from a B tier aircraft to an A+ tier or S tier aircraft depending on the battle rating. If someone were to ask me if they should buy the F-4S or the F-5C, I’d say both are good choices but it’s ultimately up to what their end goal is. If you want to have fun and are new to jets, buy the F-5C. If you want to make the grind easier and learn in the process, buy the F-4S. Lastly, if someone does decide to get the F-4S and take it out during ARB matches, for the love of god don’t bomb bases. I know base bombing is good for the grind but you are just sitting duck especially at top tier.

F5c bombing in sim and then turning into an amazing fighter once u drop ur bombs is such a good way to grind the tech tree, 2 blu fire bombs and a 2klb bomb is the lightest bomb load for one base kill and u can still Mach 1.1 with full fuel and the engine doesn’t overheat so u can full throttle to the base and still have fuel to fight and rtb

Usually if you fly low and fast with the pack towards the bases on the left and zoom past them, swing wide around the back of the front lines and come in and hit the two bases on the right nobody ever gets and then usually I can get a kill too

i bring 2 rocket pods on my j35xs (doesnt interfere with 6 missiles), makes you basically immune to side/front aspect missiles if u ever get uptiered or want to approach su25/9L slingers freely, and can also be used to ground pound (they fire 1 at a time too) while saving ammo to force enemies to come to you because this things acceleration is doodoowater without afterburner

The helmet mounted system on the F4-S is a gimmick, yes, you can lock missiles, but you have no HUD like I'm sure everyone will expect, just a little circle and dot to see when you are locked and seeking missiles.

well if take care and not rushing to the base with the tornado, u can do really good with it .. killing 2 bases and 1-2 air kills are possible ind the 25k rp and 130k silverline afterwards is very nice. Just stick to your team at the beginning and try to get out the missles (just u have to do smthg while wait the base get respawned or free from enemys)

Mostly, I think an SL talisman would be a better addition at this point RP talismans can be on any plane, but the ability to breakeven or profit is limited to you having amazing games, which is only possible in a few planes.. it would also increase variety rather than F4S vs MIG23ML every game

No 11.3 jet is going to have fun against 12.3. And I'd hazard saying F-4J/F-4S are on better end of the deal, with their potent radar and 7F. Mig23MLD would be another "best 11.3" contender mostly because it didn't lost RWR for no reason like 23ML/MLA did.

Took me more than a year to convince my self to actually waste the1.2M+ SL for the expert training for the F-5C, and only because it went up in rank. Otherwise I still would not use it much, and would just talisman the F-8E instead. I still think its a bad plane, do to its only good at turning, and can be used as a last resort CAS, but nothing more. The reason its so popular is do to its a low-tech plane and less experienced players only need to set the "fire AAM" + "countermeasure" keys, and can easily transmission from a prop plane to it. Why I even have it? It was in a bundle with the AH-64A + XM-1 once (basically it was a free gift)!

My Opinion on the MiG21 Lazur and IDS WTD: The lazur is good in the hands of an good pilot, so not quite made for new players. The WTD is a good grinder, especially when you just started the german tree. but dont expect many kills and try to run when getting attacked and alone.

With the f-104s taf u can use 6 fire bombs and 1 2000lb bomb to make a 2 base loadout. Use 2 firebombs and 1 2000lb for 1 bomb base bcos 2x 1000lb and 1x 2000lb wont do it.

Kfir C.1 is probably the best 70$ pixel plane, you get the best 10.7 in the game, and you can grind better america super fast, i got an 8 kill game in my second match with it, grinded out all of israel in less than a month and made a fuck load of money, i think it was worth the 70$ but that money technically wasn't mine so, it is what it is.

The Mirage F1CT doesn't have a centerline missile pylon, but the F1C and F1C-200 can carry the R.530 or R.530E on the centerline. They can't use a Super 530F on it.

Now that I realize what gun pod the F-4S has, it's really weird that it's not the SUU-23 with the Vulcan cannon. Why does the Japanese F-4 get that, and not the American F-4S?

The US Navy used the Colt gunpod on their phantoms (well, they didnt in seevice, but F-4B/N/J/S were capable of using it). I'm not sure if the navy used the SUU-23 on anything tbh. The Brits didnt use the Mk4 gunpod, so even though their phantoms are all F-4J based they converted them to use the vulcan gunpod.

I'm not a fan of the MiG-21S, it's very unforgiving because of the weak missiles and lack of flares. Playing it is like walking on eggshells. The MiG-23ML isn't a bad idea, great jet and it absolutely prints SL. Another bonus for getting the ML is it counts towards your planes you need to unlock rank VIII. The other option would be to put a talisman on the MiG-21SMT. The SMT has flares, a better engine, and R-60s compared to the 21S and it's just two BR steps higher, it's one of the best soviet planes tier for tier. But keep in mind it's not a premium so your RP earnings might be faster than your SL earnings.

No they are still very bad when flared but when they get close to you they perform better so manuever while flaring once and you'll be fine

Hopefully someone sees this in time, I have the 5c and 23ml already, and I’m prob gonna get either the canard or the 4s, but I have prob like 2-3 hours of test flight in with the canard and the 4s and both of them are play styles I will have to adjust to if I buy and use them. I am curious to see what WT veterans recommend I force my self to adjust to lmao. Leave your opinions below so I can try and make a decision

Since you already have the F-5C I'd go for the Kfir. If you want the F-4S purely for gameplay, the F-4J in the tech tree is similar enough. Kfir also gets your foot in the door for another tech tree, giving you more variety.

For sure, the worst jet is in the sweden tech tree at 9.7 the J35A. it got no flares 10g AAM with around 1.6 km range a horroble gun, no balistics computer, no bombs, bad rokets, the only pro is the turn rate at that br but with such hard cannons with no tracers it is horrible.

Italy mains, do not get the F-104S. I spaded the tech tree version, and you do NOT want this thing to be your grinding machine up to top-tier. Now it's even worse, this flying dart can fight F-16As regularly, and you don't even have the all-aspect missiles of the F-104S ASA. Here's to the future of Italian premiums though. Could easily get a Brazilian AMX at 10.3, maybe an F-104S ASA/M at 11.3, and even an F-16B Block 10 OCU or Block 15 ADF someday.

I dont really play sim but I will say some of these have RWRs that cant detect pulse doppler radars in sim. If I was playing sim I'd probably want something like the F20, which brings its own set of problems... I wished I could give a recommendation but I'm not sure. If you're balling out with the F-4S, keep doing it

Su-11 isn't discounted and being only rank 5, its utility is kinda limited. 23ML will get you to the top, but as its 11.3, you will also interact with top tiers on daily basis. Learning curve... no, learning cliff will await you there, that and putting GE that come with the jet into crew will be mandatory. Gen 3 and 4 jets is where meatbag on board becomes the weakest link and quick to pass out during maneuvers.

@@tothmatyas2177 If you're familiar with radar usage as well top tier gameplay loop, then only "against" I have 23ML is shitty RWR (only 4 antennas and no missile launch warning). Technically Mig-23MLD is better, as it adresses RWR issue, has wing slats for bit more AoA at expense of speed and can mix and match R24R with R24T with the same BR.

Ok so I got the F-4s a while back and idk about anyone else but its IR missiles are shit, I've only gotten like 2 kills with them and you don't even need to flare to dodges them, just fly in a straight line, am I just using them wrong because I also use the missiles on the A10 and they work fine... any advice??

It's hard to know without seeing some clips. The 9H is easier to flare than the 9L, and there's a chance they're flaring it but you're not actually seeing the flares (sometimes they don't render in). I only carry two 9Hs on the F-4S.

As dumb as it is, I got the A6E and on release I would just climb above a furball because of its ability to hold subsonic speeds and lob x4 AIM-9Ls and run for home or have the gunpod and go in for the fight. I’ve honestly had a fun time playing it and I can say my money was well spent.

A6e on release was amazing, I think it my best grinder on average out of all US premium jets Unfortunately couple weeks after it was released map size was increased which effectively killed it in ARB, played it only couple times since then, what a shame

I know the F-4EJ ADTW isn't the best and not on sale but its pretty good for grinding the Japanese tech tree, I was able to get the first half of the Japanese air tree done in less than a week with the ADTW

J-7D is on sale RN and somehow i have gathered reasonable amount of GJN coin though... some recommend some dont. i doubt whether i should buy or not. edit: i have mig21s from ussr tho and almost reached toptier in the usa

It would be easier to recommend if it was 10.7 and it's usable at 11.0 but I just find it to be really frustrating. Its a good tech tree tho. If youre used to mig21s theyre very similar airframes. Imagine your mig21s with flares and basically improved r13m1s at 11.0, there you go.
