i wonder who's fault is that, maybe it's the company who closed down a fan remake of mg1 which was going to include pw and poops style cutscenes, mg1 VAs and full level constructions or the company who instead of porting over the og versions of all mgs games with improvements decided to butcher the release and milk it using volumes. I wonder oh i wonder

You can't quantify "dying" when we haven't had a game in ages. The next game is a remake. MGSV sold really well so we have no idea how the series would have done if they actually continued making games. Here's hoping MGS3 does well and they keep making more. Wouldn't mind a remake of MG1 next.

Unfortunately, I think we’re going to see a reboot and not a remake (they’re using remake assuage fears, because language and communication are funny like that), starting with Delta, after all they said only the script was remaining unchanged, not the story.

Metal Gear is dead. Died after Konami kicked Kojima out. With no mainline sequels, only OG fans of MGS remain. How many times can you play MGS V till you move on? Most have. The remasters are just remasters and won't move the needle.

When you asked me "When you hear 'Metal Gear', what comes to mind?" I felt a shock of goosebumps shoot up my spine. It's more than what comes to mind for me, it's part of my soul at this point. Works of art like this completely overshadows (or illuminates) all the darkness I've experienced in my life when all I have to do is think about a big ass robot that shoots missiles.

"It's over. Time for you to put aside the gun, and live." Without Kojima, it's not Metal Gear. Without Kojima, I hope we never see another Metal Gear again. If that means that the games are a little harder for the public to access then so be it, that'll just weed out the tourists from the people with genuine interest, but I don't want to see Metal Gear's defiled corpse paraded around on twisted puppet strings, like I've watched with Halo, Mass Effect, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Star Wars for the last ten years. I understand the sentiment, trust me I do, but you need to learn when to let things go, else you'll learn the hard way what it looks like to have something you love necromanced back to life by myopic money-hungry suits that have no care or respect for what you hold dear. Trust me, it's not a fun sight.

I wholeheartedly agree. In today's day and age, MGS is not EVEN supposed to exist: it has sexualized female characters, violence, gay antagonists (Vamp, Volgin, Ocelot...)...everything woke culture would CRUCIFY the games over. I don't want this series to be "adapted for a modern audience". MGS is a treasure trove of creativity, and having it ending like Tomb Raider, Star Wars, or worse even, Batman Arkham, would be heartbreaking. Thankfully, MGS Delta seems to be avoiding this "modern audience" bullshit! Let's hope they commit to it!

What buffles me Is That we don't even need a reboot, there are so many events that the series didnt let us watch; like: - Metal Gear solid rising (set between 2 and 4, we see raiden becoming a cyborg); - More exploring of the whole war economy concept; - All the philantrophy ant metal Gear missions that snake went to before mgs2; - the mg1 and 2 remakes; - big boss leading foxhound and recruiting members while venom does the same for outer Heaven; - more history about some obscure characters. The series has ended, but there are still lots of things left off.

Metal Gear is like a good movie. After some sequels it is time to come to an end because if you continue after this it will be tired and not so good as before. Everything has a beginning and an end. But I will always welcome remakes of the older games. It would be fantastic if they could make a 3D game of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake too.

Everything you say is correct. There is another concern as well. Let's say Delta hits it out of the park in terms of quality, which I think it will, how many of the current young generation of gamers will appreciate it? Is "Tactical Espionage Action" and cinematic storytelling something that will attract this current batch of young gamers? Or is the sales mostly going to be made up of old fogies like us who grew up with and are used to playing a diverse range of games? I was speaking to a colleague in his early 20's and we were talking videogames; I was sharing an anecdote about how my cousin spoiled the ending of RDR for me and his response was "What? You actually care about the story?" - turns out he played RDR2 for multiplayer only and just messing about in the sandbox.

Metal Gear saga is a round circle, an author's work and doesn't need to go on forever. This, however doesn"t mean the brand is dying, or Konami wouldn't be making remakes of it. I think that NEW TITLES can't correctly fit into the MG franchise, less than a new young and talented author with a vision, new characters and ideas is willing to take up the baton to continue the series without touching the existing characters of Solid Snake, Big Boss and Raiden. In that case i would accept it as a gamble, and if it isn't good enough i could ignore it; But right here, right now, for me, good and powerful Remakes are the right thing to keep the series alive and iconic.

Package everything for the price of $60-70 and the sheer value of such an idea might be enough for the newer generation, myself included. If Delta sells great and is everything it needs to be, then we might see more, but I can’t hold my breath when it comes to Konami. The only thing I truly am hopeful for is whatever projects Hideo himself continues to work on. Maybe Delta only needs to be the match to send Kojima’s next titles into a blaze.

Hideo isn't going back to Konami. He wrapped up the stories of John and David very well from Metal Gear to MGSV. Konami is simply going into its bag of games we've been dying to get remakes of, to try and bring some money to their pockets. Just like Square Enix with FF7 Rebirth. The marketing of "its for the newer gen" is a obvious lie. Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. It’s still growing though just not as big as it once was. These are classics that I believe anyone can pickup and enjoy, thankfully these new remasters has been the thing that was needed for many to get into the series. I got into them after buying the legacy collection on ps3 back in 2021 but I’ve successfully shared that love with two friends in the past few years. Obviously it can be bigger with newer games but who cares? As long as they make the classics accessible that’s all that really matters at this point. Konami already tried to make a new game and it sucked, seeing them try it again could be cool but I don’t really care either way.

People weren’t skeptical of the Silent Hill 2 Remake because it was a remake of SH2 and not Silent Hill, it was because of how poorly an HD port of the game to the PS3 and 360 was handled in 2012. The Silent Hill fanbase had a way harder time over the last fifteen years than the Metal Gear Solid fanbase did. The MGS fanbase got *ONE* bad game in Survive, one finger’s worth, you know how many Silent Hill got? Two hands worth, and Konami fisted the fanbase with both of them. Nobody cared that SH2R “wasn’t the first game”, except for maybe a small minority, but definitely not the majority. The primary concerns for SH2R were about the story and characters being fundamentally changed and altered in any way, which they wound up not being, in fact it did want any remake or adaptation, for that matter, should do and that’s add to the story. Bloober managed to prove everyone, including myself, wrong. Konami choosing the game that is the *chronologically* (key word here) first entry in MGS’ story, makes complete sense in all reality. It’s the launching point from which every other plot thread connects to in the Metal Gear series. After all the, the driving force of every major player in the series is the carrying on of the Boss’ will after the ending of Snake Eater/Delta. The series isn’t dead or dying, but this is probably a reboot and not a remake. Hayter gets to tell his version of the story now, instead of the right one. After all, only the script is remaining unchanged, not the story, but nobody paid attention to that wording they used.

I love Metal Gear as much as anyone. However, Konami admitted that they are under a lot of pressure just making MGS DELTA. I really don't believe they have an original creative vision for the series. People have been asking for remakes of Metal Gear 1 and 2. I don't see how they can do it. People have been asking for Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 2 remakes. I believe they don't have the talent to do anymore future remakes or make brand new games. I say just make MGS DELTA one the best remakes and cone out with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2. Then after those releases just end the series. It's the best way for everyone.

Do you know about the director this game and his new studio and game series Death Stranding. There is already living thriving MGS with DS. It is ludicrous to want konami to make another MGS game they don’t deserve. Answer this why would you want this without Kojima?

Personally I've made peace with the fact that it's dead. Even if the remake comes out and isn't bad, I'm not fond of remakes unless they're akin to Resident Evil 1 Remake where it's simply the same game but better. If it doesn't meet that standard and that's all that's left for the series, I'm still going to be checked out.

MGS was a niche title. And Konami focused on pachinko for a while. Even tho, for me the first one is my all time favorite game; not anyone played the games on the PS1 and PS2; alot of people only played FPS and sports games growing up; in USA; people played Halo and Gears Of Wars alone; than came the age of battleroyales And people stuck in a loop of multiplayer and social media bubble were doing the same stuff over and over. And developers are too greedy to preserve and ahve beed feeding on the trend of remakes and remasters since the generation of ps3 and xbox360. On the PC, after the "can it run Crysis" a pursuit of graphical development never ended and only indies are being experimental.

It pains me to say it, but the franchise should've ended with MGS3. If anything, I'd love to see a game that tells us what happened between MGS2 and MGS4, how Raiden rescued Sunny and became a cyborg ninja, what Snake was doing, etc...

Metal Gear isn’t dying and this guy is Not the king. Jaguar simply made a sweaty click bait video because it helps his account and he knows enough people who are bad at video games and love shitting on the greatest series ever made would watch this. There’s a whole community of people who wait around all day for an opportunity like this video to try and talk shit on a game they pry played once like an entitled critique. First of all, the game has been around and maintained relevance for almost 30 years and just the other day MGS 1, 2, and 3 were on IGN top 100 Greatest PS games of all time, MGS1 being one. Secondly, we all know the game isn’t call of duty or GTA or Fortnite. We all know it doesn’t fit in with the hyper popularized mainstream titles, but we all know people don’t come to this game for that sort of instant gratification bubblegum video game experience all those games offer like sameness is their goal…. but hell out of all the millions of games ever made I can still walk and do a Walmart or Best Buy TODAY and pick up a copy of Metal Gear Solid on any of the modern console and that is incredible for “a game that took a massive blow after almost 10 years for being ‘dormant’” and is a better longevity than really any game like it can say except maybe Resident Evil. Jaguar’s whole argument about inaccessibility is the only cohesive one jaguar has and it’s NOT even a valid one as he literally contradicts it several times within the video. 🤦‍♂️ Other than MGS4 all of the games have been ported on more consoles than most games successful and unsuccessful ever see on their own. Besides 4 all the main canon games are very accessible and are still being played today by new players. Which brings me to my next point expressed by the hella copium pouring out of every second is its entitled, gross dismissiveness and/or ignorance to the huge community of players already existing and are starting to get into it everyday. It’s not hard to find a forum or thread or comment somewhere of people talking about how they’re just now experiencing MGS for the first time today and loving it. This guy most definitely isn’t speaking for all gamers and is most definitely not pulling information from all sources. Everything about this 9 min video is baity and nobody besides Jaguar I think really took a quote from the producer saying “younger generations arent familiar with the series” (which considering how long this game has been around is a No Duh) and interpreted it as “MGS, THE GREATEST MOST TIMELESS GAME SERIES AND PLOT EVER IN HISTORY IS DYING.” Jaguar also makes the incredibly far-reaching and false argument that it’s somehow Konami’s fault that a single video game player he met chose not to go and play an older video game in the series that once again may I remind you has been ported to modern consoles more than most games ever. And even if all this misplaced blame on Konami was true, that only furthers the argument that MGS has room to grow with Remakes of MG1, MG2, MGS1&2, and potentially another Raiden game. - Konami knows the game still has a bright future ahead of it still with a lot that can potentially be done with the already existing story. And this self-proclaimed “king’s” complaints on the master collection again go against his own argument that the games are inaccessible on top of sounding blatantly wah wah wah and entitled and ungrateful with his whole “(these are the best games ever)…but it wasn’t perfect” rhetoric…😂🤦‍♂️ Can you please show numbers or statistical evidence of this supoosed “generation of gamers that had already moved on” from MGS because of your “imperfect” assertion of the Master Collection? You sound like you’re trying so hard yourself to move on from the games in some weird way and refuse to do it alone. 😂 I don’t think Konami was “FORCED” to do Anything. They love and appreciate the games as true fans (that thing I now question if Jaguar is) and found a fun way for them to continue bringing life into a globally acclaimed amazing video game with Delta. That’s all the producer was getting at. If Jaguar isn’t in Konami’s offices and developer’s rooms himself, then he is in absolutely no place to say what Konami felt forced to do and what they didn’t. And last point I’ll make is this video completely fails in making its main Clickbait thumbnail argument and that is, what does popularity have to do with whether or not one should play this game? Why should I care if other people arent playing it seemingly as much after many years without a new release? That doesn’t make this game or story worse nor tell me at all why I shouldn’t being playing this game? This whole video from the and actually only brings it back to its hidden gem status it will forever have. I appreciate the positive silver lining that was supposed to be left at the very end of the video, but I really fundamentally disagreed with almost 100% of all of this and and feel like Jaguar is really just trying to exacerbate anxieties surrounding this game with a cheap clickbait video to help his account and feed those waiting to discredit this game because it’s too amazing and he knows they’re out there. This video could’ve been less than 2 minutes long and made the same point “Konami shouldn’t mess Delta up or that wouldn’t be good for Metal Gear”… That’s all there really is to take from this. Your “please subscribe and leave a comment if you think its dying” at the end is so overtly desperate for views and feedback that it really just screams why you posted this in the first place… This whole “MGS is dying” rhetoric is desperate and is for people who dont understand or can not grasp its relevance, message, and importance. You can not kill a game that all other shooting games even remotely like it looked at and took inspiration off of from for decades and will continue to do so in a way no other game can say. MGS is about real life and real life will always be relevant. And if All This I’m saying WASN’T the case right now, I guarantee you Jaguar wouldn’t even be making this video for you all to watch in the first place. Like, if Jaguar misses all of the pop culture reference of MGS that are still happening today, then thats his fault. 😂 That’s not on Konami or anyone else. Good day to all of you.

I think MGS4 was the end of the Franchise. Like it brought a lot of stuff to conclusion, and considering the way the game had gotten, it was seriously an end game. I am not interested in Rising. Ground Zeroes and V, Peace Walker, actually sort of continued the game in terms of being prequels but, V was vastly different to the MGS we know. I think the repetitive nature of it made it a bit boring, and it lacked the MGS feel honestly. To me, it sort of dissolved my interest in the franchise. That said, I think MGO2 (Thanks to SaveMGO) sort of helps grow MGS. While it is a dead game, that got the hardcore fans of it, and it is drawing new people in, people are getting to feel the awesomeness and goofiness of MGS as well. With the remake of MGS3 looming, maybe this can be a regrowth of the popularity it once had. That said, stories do end. I don't mind if it is the end. But, if they choose to continue it, they can move forward with different characters and different situations

This is a strange, nearly clickbaity video. Of course a game series with no mainline entry in 9 years, no entry at all in 6 years, no exposure for an entire console generation (and arguable the most important in terms of the cultivation of digital libraries in this quick media/streaming service time) and barely any exposure to an entire generation of people who engage with the majority of media today entirely differently to how we did - is going to not be popular, or on forefronts of the minds of people. Hence remaking the canonically earliest game. I think Okamura's statement was more stating the obvious and this whole video has just been you doubling down on the obvious.

I mean i must disagree i like to go watch people play this game on twitch a lot regardless if it is speedrun or not and see some many people playing for the first time since mc that i can really give credit to what you are saying now. Sure komani did make a great move by not getting those game available for modern sysytem. But from irst hand experience on whatever media can can seems to actually say that the franchise have never been so alive than now. Sure i don't think people can be called fan i'll give you that but people are indeed giving into the game head first atm i can guarantee that.

Anything from konami is just cancer, they had the one chance to revive metal gear with an one all be all collection of all metal gear games but they messed it up royally and instead expect new people to buy full price ps2 games in separate sets. Delist the hd collection and pretend they can't just remove the war footage, their money pinching is so disgusting , they might as well sell the gaming rights of metal gear , also screw unblur 5, unity would have been better instead

Metal Gear has a small, but pious, fanbase that is guarded quite jealously. It's almost an 'obscure' game at this point, remembered by people in their 30s at their youngest Personally, they need to do something different since Kojimas gone. Yours not going to be able to replicate what he did. I think they should continue with the Raiden games.
