The Jagdpanther has to be my favorite next to the Panther it's self.(or the Tiger, it depends what mood I'm in). IT IS SUCH A BEAST!! I am SO HAPPY that people have restored these vehicles and they will be around for future generations to marvel at. And you were SO LUCKY to see one that close. You are one lucky lady!!

Beautiful and extremely well restored Jagdpanther! The only question is that why the engine is running at minimum rpm? I have the impression that it is not running smoothly, almost making a knocking noise...
@EngiNetion3 жыл бұрын
maybe they don't want to force it much since you can't get replacement parts now
@paoloviti61563 жыл бұрын
@@EngiNetion it could be but personally I find it wrong because the Maybach HL230 P30 had around 700 hp at 3,000 rpm but it had been installed a governor to limit the rpm around 2,500 lowering the horsepower to 600 this in order to save the engine. That said the engine has a minimum around 700 rpm but generally it is good to keep the a bit "happy" so it runs smoothly and avoid fouling the spark plugs as it tends to be gummed with sooth because of low quality gasoline. I know because a mechanic told me that many engines of old Ferrari's were ruined because the owners was scared to mistreat those engines not understanding that they were equally mistreating in the wrong way so the engines had to be overhauled....

Short shifting at its best-The lowest idle contest has a winner.
@DevSolar5 жыл бұрын
No shifting at all, it's in first gear the whole time. And he's keeping the revs at just above idle, probably to keep the loads at an absolute minimum. You don't get replacement parts for either the Maybach or the transmission...

That sound struck fear in the hearts of Allied fighting men during WWII because one did not know it one did not see it if it was a Tiger, Panther or Jagdpanther. I can remember being on bivouac in the US Army and hearing tanks and apc's at night but not being able to see them. Was scary to say the least!

Rita for starters hello from Raleigh, North Carolina and second there is a wonderful tank museum in Danville Virginia called the AAF tank museum they have a bunch of less common tanks there that you can go inside like the m1917 light tank or the a panzer iv that survived golan heights and they even have special offers to drive some tanks it's really worth the trip and love your videos keep up the great work

Those Maybach HL230’s always seemed be running “best” when at low idle RPM’s they always seemed to sound as if they were about to almost STOP running...;) Considering the time period & technological capabilities-(under war stress/conditions)-the rather “small” size to final torque/HP numbers & output of the Maybach motors is nothing short of amazing... Fuel Infection/turbo/SuperCharging in those HL230 motors wouldve been a game changer as to HorsePower/torque output, from 700HP-(governed from 750)- to at least 900-950 or even higher with tweaking by the enginerding teams...

@HaVoC117X4 жыл бұрын
If you want to turn your Panther around, just hit the gas and turn it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGXOgGqBm8-gm68 They always the let the engine suffer by letting it fight against the clutch and the transmission at low RPM. You can literally hear it. The Maybach HL 230 don't like to idle, give it a little gas. Unlike other tank engines it was built to operate better at higher rpms. Are there reasons why they do it like that??? 2:50
@Gestapo934 жыл бұрын
Man the Guy driving the Panther in your link knows how to drive a tank! Excellent. He is a real tank driver, not some pussyfoot Guy from the museum staff.

Great sound, I love It. Too bad that the driver does not let the engine do its job and A refresher lesson in vehicle guiding would not be an unnecessary luxury.
@Slaktrax10 ай бұрын
Plenty of torque to make turns at idle, but it doesn't sound anything like a V12 at very low rpm. It must be those flame damper things (if that's what they are for) fitted to the exhausts. It actually sounds like a single cylinder Lister (Close your eyes and listen without knowing it's the best looking AFV ever). Edit: It sounds way better here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWbQdGOpnbdsg6s 🙂 And another one without the exhaust ''buckets'': kzbin.info/www/bejne/faOrqqlje6d4os0
