In addition to it being old kit that oval track they have has to put a lot more pressure on the brakes and steering than would normally be encountered even when they were new. I understand why they do it but at the same time it'd be a lot better on these old machines if they had a long straight away with a more agreeable turning radius.

Isn't it funny how they didn't get tired of claiming how unreliable german wwii tanks are, when the only tanks which reliable break down inside the arena are British. The Tiger, the King Tiger in France and all panthers I know of never failed during a presentation. The panther isn't that complex at all. It's just everything in a bigger scale. Armor, Gun, Engine and Tracks. I would call the 30 cylinder Chrysler engine of the Sherman fireflies a complex engine. That's a level of over engineering the Germans never reached.
@xRENEGADE1564 жыл бұрын
Performance of restored vehicles for the sake of presentation =/= performance of the actual vehicles during combat operation
@ASMR.GentleMan4 жыл бұрын
I think this whole reliability argument is nonsense because behind that sits the economy that supports the frontline and the tanks. It can bring the parts to repair, the fuel, the capazity to test tanks etc. ... So it clearly is USA > Germany. Germany was under huge pressure and still brought up the best tanks in a very short time. If a tank gets developed today, it takes 10- 20 years or more.... What counts for me is the real combat effectiveness. And if you ask me: a T34 that rolls out of the factory to just die instantly (at the battle of kursk for example) has worse reliability overall than a tiger that melts an entire british push at villers bocage and gets some minor technical issues after doing his perfection....
@Dreachon4 жыл бұрын
@@ASMR.GentleMan It is, the effect of being on the losing side also has a large impact on the readiness of tanks. If you are constantly pulling back even the simplest of maintenance or repairs becomes almost impossible, a vehicle that had a broken track and can't be repaired or recovered because the enemy is right on your heels will be left behind. This is the massive advantage that both the Wester Allies and the Soviets are enjoying by mid 1943, they have taken the strategic initiatieve and they are forcing the Germans to fall back, their situation gets even better by mid 1944 when they successfully invade Normandy.
@joeyreidelbach55094 жыл бұрын
@@Dreachon Well technically it was not the Soviet that force the Germans to retreat it was the harsh 2 Russian winters that the Germans had to endure which the Germans were not prepare to deal with which the Germans suffer alot of deaths cause of the Russian winters which weaken the German army strength in Soviet Union in which the Soviet army put the final nail in the coffin for the German army as for the western allies to open up a western front that was to ease the German invasion of the soviet union cause USA and England knew that opening up another front will force Hitler to divide his resources and Military which will eventually drain the resources and materials that Germany needs for the war effort .
@Dreachon4 жыл бұрын
@@joeyreidelbach5509 The winter is far too often used excuse and people place far too much emphasis on it. The only winter that gave them problems was the witner of 41/42. For the witner of 42/43 they were a lot better prepared.

I know i know! The actual days we have modern tanks and better. But no modern tanks exists if germans not the revolutioned the mecanized combat and variations of panzers and tigers have a large contribuition in military history. Panzers,tigers,panthers and light armored vehicles kfz's deserve respect and admirations. They fight for the reich yes, but wermacht and SS still different, the army never liked the scumbags of SS. But they just obey orders and be fooled with promisses with a better germany. Today is not different, all liders lie to your people with false promisses with glory,honnor, equal and a good life.

Tank Destroyer is still a part of tank Just because it doesn't have turret, doesn't mean it wasn't a tank
@shielahaberecht34173 жыл бұрын
@@Kalashnikov413 Sorry... But you're wrong. If it doesn't have a turret, it's not a tank. Much like a submarine is technically a boat. Do you know why? I'll tell you... because it has a sail. Hence it is a boat, not a ship. And a tank destroyer, self-propelled guns or assault guns are technically not tanks! They are turretless so by definition they do not register as tanks. And that is definitive. Just like submarines are not, and cannot be, ships... They have a sail with a coming tower, though that part is not a prerequisite, so they must classify as boats. Thank you for your kind attention..

Amazing DPM with the right gun and you be spamming shells to the enemy. 3. Amazing tank to rush against enemy team if they are caught off guard. 4. In order for it to have any chance at killing a modern tank, it'd have to get beside or behind it. Despite the 88 mm being able to penetrate over 200 mm of steel with AP rounds, modern tanks like the Abrams and Leopard have 2-3 times that on the front
