A video about Otto Carius and the first documented shooting down of a plane with a tank would be good to see. Carius leveled the tank and his gunner shot down the plane with the main gun. That was in Russia in 1943 I think. Carius died in 2014 at the age of over ninety. He had a pharmacy called Tiger pharmacy and in it he had a lot of models of Tigers, Panthers and Tank Destroyers. He started out as a loader in a Panzer 38 and worked his way up to commander. He was one of the first to be fitted with the Tiger. At the end of the war he commanded a Jagdtiger.Carius had notable success as a Tiger tank commander

Good video. Here is a fact for everyone that likes to weigh in on the Tiger 1 and if it was really that fearsome or more of a myth. There were only around 1250 Tigers ever made. Not an exact number but close. The allies produced tens of thousands of tanks. The Russians even more. So by just that alone the Tiger had over a 10 to 1 kill ratio. And records from both sides back that up. So yeah, I'd say the Tiger 1 was that bada$$. The term "Tiger-phobia" was real. No other tank caused that kind of chaos.

Tiger still had advantage but it was very small very small, The firefly could engage a lot farther off & actually produce desired results, still when USA & Allies first got into the European theathre they found out that their soldiers , command structure were battle tested from Eastern Front & they were truly formidable opponent!!! Their tanks were LIGHT YEARS BETTER THAN OURS WHEN WE landed on June 6th!!!the MG 42 US soldiers said just 2-3 of those nests would terrify the rank & file troops approaching as much as the Tigers & panther tanks, it’s still considered the best light machine gun & multiple countries still have in service & their current machine gun is some kind of variant/copy , it spit out twice as fast as the US machine guns!!! I’m a SIE HARD AMERICAN PATRIOT, we took our lumps, losses, wore initial shock off, organized & pushed foreword with the famous American doctrine producing everything on a level & scale that no other country could dream of producing, we done that & leans lease thousands of trucks planes, food, ammunition to The soviets, but IMO the true unsung hero is our RESILLIANT-TOUGH MINDED WOMEN, it was well over 60% of women from age 18-50 that worked our factories producing our ammunition building our aircraft, our battleships etc & they fucking done it well!!! Nothing but love

Yet again, another smashingly well-done video! It's great to admit that you tried to be truthful, but probably was not what actually happened. What always amazes me is inflated stories of valor when there are many that go untold and they truly deserve it! An amazing story about heroism and valor for a true patriot that deserves to be more well- known is the story of Witold Pilecki.

Amazingly beautiful animation YET AGAIN! I wait for these episodes because theres nothing quite like it (with the quality and good narration). Each and every video is educational, well animated, well narrated, and overall has me wishing there was more. I also love that you included the ending of the video explaining there are likely errors in the video. Even with some errors created by the propaganda machine that was Germany in 1944, I'm confident that you did the best humanly possible to bring all the fans of the channel a wonderful lesson to enjoy.

I've heard that Wittmann barely avoided a Court Martial over that action. While, yes, he was successful, he apparently ignored another German unit in distress. Though, like you said, it there are simply too many conflicting accounts. Plus, when the Germans surrendered, they destroyed considerable documents or stashed them away. Others DO exist, but are unfortunately, buried in Archives from DC to Moskva (good luck at getting any records from Moskva now). And that's not including the records from Norway and Finland North Africa that are likely forgotten about. Although, recently, it has been found that a 6-pdr has enough power to actually pierce the side of a Tiger. The problem with the 6-pdr, and its American version (the 57mm M1 ATG), appears to be that the gun is finicky at short ranges and its best capabilities are at a thousand yards, which just so happens to be its maximum accurate range. After 1,000 yards, it yaws a bit too much and then goes off somewhere else. One of the reasons the US Army didn't try to upgun their Light Tanks with 57mm Guns was how finicky the dang thing was, and this was in spite of the fact that RnD and Armor Branch managed to stick a 75mm into a M5 Turret! Still, I have to admit, this is one of the better accounts I've heard about the rampage, and it is definitely at the correct time of day. In CoD, it was both wet and at night and kept running amok in the town itself doing most of the damage.

A very detailed, and very different, version than I have heard in the past. I was under the impression that Whittman abandoned his tank in the village when it became stuck in a destroyed building? He then retirned with another Tiger, and that was also lost.
