Jagersfontein residents find hope as new houses rise from mine dam collapse

Residents of Jagersfontein in the Free State, whose lives were turned upside down when a mine dam collapsed and destroyed their homes, say the construction of new houses has given them renewed hope. This is despite waiting on the government and the Jagersfontein Development mine for over a year, for the work to commence. About 140 families were displaced in September 2022 when tailing from the mine dump covered parts of the town.
