The prayers themselves aren't complicated I believe people are referring to how they may be complicated to use and coordinate how to use them with other players (especially if not using voice chat). i.e. player 1 uses prayers R,S,T player 2 uses prayers U,V, W player 3 uses prayers X,Y, Z. Player 2 & 3 attack off tick only when player 1 uses prayer R. i.e.2 player 2 uses prayer U, player 3 uses prayer Z when player 1 uses prayer S but only on p2 etc..etc..

The prayers weren’t difficult to understand at all. But it’s just not worth the trouble when you are adding all this simply for “X% damage/defense boost.” and if they’re feeling whacky it might even be something like “create X scenario and receive X% damage/defense boost.” 75% of these prayers will come DOA and the other 25% will just be used for meta builds in boss content.

I feel like there's already so much items for skilling (dragon/infernal/crystal tools, varrock armor, mining gloves, felling axe, ice and gold gloves skilling outfit) and at this point I don't know what more could a prayer bring other then a flat xp rate. And I personally don't think that anyone wants jagex to make a new skilling prayer book that will end up scrapped because it's overpower or so underwhelming that it's a waste of time

Imagine cutting magic logs and instead of every 4 ticks you have a 1 in 20 chance of cutting the magic log it's 1 in 15. Or when cooking sharks your burn rate goes down. You could also have a increased loot prayer that acts similar to the ring of wealth, but works on everything from trees to bosses. This would mean it would be critical to activate your loot prayer at the end of a boss fight sorta like activating protect item if you're going to die. Bosses like barrows would require you to bring prayer pots to activate the prayer for max rates. There's plenty of prayers they could add that aren't simply do more damage or gain more xp

Skilling prayers only came to RS3 after skills were reworked to be combat-like (smithing being the best example). I just cannot see where it would be useful in OSRS.

The only complex part of the suggested prayers is jagex gave us alot of background technical info about how they wanted these prayers to work, when in actuality, they were simple and straightforward as fuck. Jagex can only dumb it down so far before these prayers are DoA. And that's assuming the critics actually read the damned article and are arguing in good faith.

I think the reason people didn't like the new prayers and called them 'complicated' was because of the way multiple prayers had some kind of 'on hit apply new status or debuff' effect. That complicates how you might perceive how useful a prayer is. Typically, prayers are just 'toggle on for improved stats in x/y/z' or 'toggle on to get protection from x damage type'. Introducing an rng element in proc prayers is a bit overcomplicated, considering that most of the prayers in the game do not have a random element like that. It's all in how you use them, not how lucky you are if they proc or don't proc. I guess players just want more straight-forward information about how a prayer is going to impact their gameplay, instead of having extra status effects and proc percentages to calculate.

I think my biggest problem with the God prayers is it requires too much thought. Prayers are meant to be passive effects, or switched to as a reaction. This made them far too active and more like spells.

Id love to see a skilling prayer that has a 20-30% chance to complete actions like making potions, crafting items, chopping wood, fishing, mining and so on 1 tick faster for slightly better xp rates. I feel like that is the only skilling prayer we would need and could be applicable to many other skills that are usually regarded as slow to sqeeze out that little bit of extra xp. Maybe adjust percentages to work out to about 10-20% extra xp.

It would completely destabilize they way training works now. 20-30% extra chance? Now there's 20-30% more resources in the game. Prices of those resources go down. 10-20% more EXP would potentially reduce the time to get skills to 99 by the same amount. You haven't thought this through. This could ruin the game. @@wados3579 fair point but we are talking about skilling prayers here. Were you expecting something over the top and super complicated like a whole prayer book or something? This is a simple prayer that can apply to most crafting and gathering skills and most players could benefit from by spending a little extra gp for a little extra xp. At least its not something stupid like double resource gathering that would crash the economy on skilling supplies even more.
