Jagex Fixed VORKATH? - New Item Added

This might be the first step towards an RS3 leagues which does sound exciting. So long as there's no barrier to claim these buffs I'd say it's fine.

Like never failing theiving, and the big ones the combat style buffs, you choose one combat style and you get its attack speed increased as well as secondary effects based on style. As well as up to 12x exp and drop rates.

Agreed @jur_007. I think only because of the Hero Pass debacle people may have some concern about the slippery slope this could have towards a future mtx buff (please god let there never be one). but I think your right, these types of buffs seem like they could fit in very nicely with a leagues type format and may be their way to test them with a 2hr limit if one turns out to be totally broken. I know i really want to try flying around Runescape with the surge and escape cooldown :P

The way the buffs are implemented this time seems good to me - they're available for all players on login, the player has some choices (so it's not forcing people into buffs they don't want) and they seem to be free with no drawbacks. My concern is, as you brought up, this might just be them introducing a more player friendly version just to stab us in the back with the broken ones later down the line and this lessens the blow. Some of the buffs do seem quite busted.

Yeah and when the buffs all the sudden end up giving you massive advantages at bossing and skilling over other players it becomes a problem. The buffs are okay, if everyone can use them for free. They are NOT okay when you pay money to gain access to them...

Oh wait it didn't, also I'll be so fr right now even if they did have a buyable buff that gave players a skilling or pvm buff, even a considerable one like 20% less damage or something, why do you even care? Someone else's play experience does not affect you, pvm buffs won't allow faster PBS to be set or allow world firsts at like zamorak etc so I really don't get why people get so up in arms and doom saying over everything jagex does.

@@splitthesoulgaming7431 this is always how it starts. I'm not new to mtx p2w buffs and stuff going into games. The squeel of fortune was a free neat update and now look where it's at. In 10 years I'll be able to pay for extra percentage drop chances at end game bosses and reroll dice, then pay for a buff that rolls for a chance in bis gear only accessible with that buff. This data will 100 percent be used to see who's playing with the buffs, how many times players activated, and what buffs for least used so we know not to offer that buff in our future mtx.

Remember when Ebay had a yellow background and they changed it to white? There was uproar and they were forced to undo the change (this was hero pass). Then, over the next couple of years, they gradually lightened the colour every few months. (This is what these buffs feel like). Eventually, it was white again and nobody had said anything. (Eventually, we'll have paid-for buffs which impact gameplay, and nobody will have objected because it happenned in small increments.)

As a lowly free to play player I think its cool and wish i had the buffs. I feel like this is the game now and it all started back with squeal, and its never going back. I think the best advice is to either take advantage of rhe buffs or ignore the buff and consequently the hat reward items or a third option pick a buff that you wont use that day and let the timer run out. And as far as it having an influence on the economy, yea it probably will but i mean i just watched a video of yours a few days ago that suggested pvmers wait until double exp weekend to buy cheap potions, so whats the difference. I mean if yall really dont like it i guess make a forum post and cancel your membership

The scale replaces praesulic essence and ancient scales. You only need a single vorkath scale, per piece, instead of 70-420 ancient scales and 1-5 praesulic essence per piece. Yes, it should be quite valuable...

prayer points can drain I was just using it for arch glacor and the beams were draining my prayer. they don't recharge either they just stay where they are but don't drain from the prayers

Most of the buffs seem more like "2hr buffs to catch up on content" although some of them are gonna be super busted if you use them right It'll be interesting to see what happens with this if it's a new every few months thing or a one off

I really wish the buffs were like 25-50% strength but lasted the entire day, I hate buffs/auras because they lock you into doing an activity for a specific amount of time or you waste the effect similar to old dxp events. I feel like most people don't just do activities in game for 1-2 hours at a time they either do something in short intervals or 6+ hour grind sessions so making buffs like these seem weird to me when they have mentioned before they don't like how auras work but functionally made a one time use aura event.

it is really time for jagex to start working towards a new game, you cannot just keep making the game easier and easier or to have a massive expansion with a skill that ties in all skills post 99 like space travel, alien resources that cannot be used on the main land go to a new planet or something and make a lodestone and then build a fort on your new planet

Scale won't change much for a lot of people i don't think. I did 8 kills for my reaper and only made a mil. Can make that in one kc nm kill in a fraction of the time.

The scale basically doubles the chase items and chase item gp, between the 700m+ it's worth in praesulic + ancient scales, and lord of bones going for 600m or so. You're right that the commons being way less than upkeep is almost as bad as the key cost on magister. But they would rather nerf ed1 than actually fix the obvious elephant in the room. Rasial's commons are also nothing to write home about. They want to feed the novel response of sometimes getting the big drop and sometimes losing money no matter what, rather than just have people go always expecting a profit.

@pondracek my biggest issue is that it doesn't change normal mode loot at all. Personally I don't find hard modes fun they are just obnoxious I prefer the more layed back normal mode difficulty. Obviously hm should give more/better loot than NM buy NM should still be worth doing imo.

@@spiritas5372 you're talking about the wrong boss. Vorkath's hard mode isn't worth doing and neither is normal mode. Even after the buff, people are simply better off camping Rasial. Or perhaps ED1 still.

As an Ironman, There's an event? Happy birthday to a game that's been part of my life for so long, but there's not really much here. Nothing to complete, so no reward I guess. The buffs are available mostly equally to everyone so it at least alleviates that concern. I'm still adamant that P2W is a bad idea. A lot of these really are insane even for the period of time they last.

I think the buffs are fine. The fact that they're two hour buffs means that their economic impact will be very minimal. We've got a guy running 14 alts farming arch mats 16 hours a day, so two hours of double mats is a drop in the bucket.

Something like this I don't mind. I think due to there limited nature of the buffs they won't affect the markets too much, maybe a few GP here and there. As long as no MTX is involved im okay with events like this. What really effects the market is the infinite porter events. I'd rather nix the infinite porters over this event.

I think you should remake the initial part of the video where you are stating that buffs are going to overpower and affect the markets a lot. Buff only lasts 2 hours, so it will save some money in supplies, but nothing major.

I don’t mind the buffs. The fact they are time limited and non MTX is fine by me. Jagex are surely hoping this will increase game play and bring back players. If it then becomes an MTX thing then that sucks, but for now, I think it’s ok

It was the buffs themselves, in addition to adding daily, weekly, and event fomo on top of seasonal fomo and just destroying the significance of the most recently released achievements in Zamorak enrage. From memory, was it 20% reduced damage taken from zamorak? Little did the playerbase know, that the plan was for necro to do way more damage than hero pass anyway while they still refuse to nerf it properly over 5 months later.

I can give you my perspective if you want. I hate buffs because I feel like they force me to do an activity for a set amount of time whether I want to or not For example during the free porter buff it did not feel like I was playing the game - all I did was archeology for two weeks because it would have been a huge waste to not do so I won't have to interact with this event because it is disabled for Ironman but if I did I can tell you exactly how it would go: every day I would pick the strongest buff and do that activity for 2 hours even if I dislike it I don't think a lot of people feel the way I do about buffs but hopefully you can understand my point of view

It's going to be worth more than that. You're not gonna waste these guys on gloves or boots, you're gonna use them on the body, which is what costs over 400 ancient scales otherwise. They're either idiots or geniuses. Idiots because they didn't realise nobody's using this on gloves or boots, or geniuses because it means there's still a partial ancient scale sink for those. (Which means buhbye 1.5m scales, but maybe hello 1m scales for a little while.)

Init with the big brain take for once. This is them just cooking the frog slowly with the hero pass content buffs, just like they did when treasure squeals first launched and you couldn't buy keys. Like daily challenges, players will get attached. Then when we riot, it'll be customers against customers as the addicts whine that they don't want to lose the content buffs and jagex doesn't look like the bad guy anymore.

i would like that the vorkath scale woudln't be the same table as the codex, cuz you will lose anyway , if you get the codex you lose because you didn't get the scale and if you get the scale you will lose because you didn't get the codex.
