They released a survey asking if players would pay more for membership if TH was removed, then immediately increased membership without changing anything. They released a survey asking players about their opinion on pay-to-win features in microtransactions, immediately followed by releasing one of the WORST examples of pay-to-win in treasure hunter's history, despite promising to release future outfits exclusively through gameplay. As a player who quit as a direct result of the pumpkin mask released last year, why should I even keep paying attention to Jagex at this point? They clearly don't plan to ever stop selling gambling addictions. At this point the only hope left is government regulation literally forcing them out of the practice.

Also you need to remember. That RS3 is the income for OSRS (Excluding membership). Since the players of OSRS wont allow excessive microtransactions, Jagex chose RS3 to be the microtransaction simulator.

Old School makes more money than RS3 nowadays. They stopped giving the exact figures for each game but in the latest profit report they listed subscriptions at around 70% of all revenue, and since OSRS is around 80% of all players that's 56% of all revenue coming from OSRS subs. MTX is about 25% and AFAIK that includes bonds, so OS makes a portion of that as well. So in total we are talking about 60-70% of all revenue coming from Old School, partly because OS is thriving and getting new players and partly because Jagex has been steadily running RS3 to the ground with microtransactions

There's an analyst that takes data based off the MTX market through all games. They are trained to find ways to make the most money through tactics such as FOMO. Jagex's analyst probably ran the numbers and this will squeeze out the extra 1% more than if they didn't do this. Therefore turning a higher profit, making the company look better and possibly acquiring another buy out. Jagex made a mistake years ago by allowing the company to be bought out, now this company is LITERALLY only there for investment. Larger companies buy Jagex to boost their portfolio and if Jagex does not turn a profit, they sell them. This is Jagex feeling pressure from their parent company to turn a profit prior to the end of the year board meetings.

I've stayed in this community for so long. It has been difficult, and I long accepted their egregious MTX practices. After the removal of the Hero Pass I was overjoyed- I felt like maybe some day I might actually get the game I loved back to its former glory. Then there was the recent blog post talking about openly communicating the future of MTX in the game. I was never more hopeful as an RS player. Now this. A complete back-track on semi-recent attempts to make good. This small update is a crushing blow for me as a RuneScape fan. I have never been the kind of guy that says he will quit because Jagex did something stupid, but all this progress only to get another update like this has made my hope completely go out the window. It feels like we are just going to go back to where we were in regards to P2W in this game. What is even the point anymore. Players should never ever overcome bad systems by working harder when that system is caused by microtransactions. You remind me of those Throne and Liberty players who are defending the game and saying it isn't pay2win or it isn't that bad, they're saying the same argument as you. Leaderboards are set in stone until a new skill comes out. Also 6% on an outfit you can't even wear during combat where you make most necro xp is just a dumb statement. Also even if you could wear it that would save you less than 10h of total grinding from lv 1 - 200m necro. Again use your brain before you yap and defame ppl that do use it. This is more like the old Yelps competition, and to tell the truth I got most of my skilling stuff through Yelps and not from skilling. I do agree that dpx tokens should be considered, but a few pieces to start it off is good. Lots of people dont have the time to get the skilling pieces through skilling and the thought of getting them through the key drops should be fun. The baby has gotten 10 slayer masks in the last few weeks and even though she is too little for some of them they are going to be great when she fills Ushatbi's.

I think it would be a little more impactful if negative videos weren’t 90% of his content. It’s just a bunch of crying wolf, which hurts the player base when Jagex sees players complaining no matter what they do. Assuming you do rituals all the way to 200m (which nobody does), have no bxp, and don’t do it on a dxp week, you save like 5 hours total. Realistically, people would only do this on a dxp week and save 2 hours with all the extra boosts. The player base cries no matter what the update is, so when they release an actually horrible update, they don’t take the player bases’ complaints seriously. Look at it this way: if the player base is going to complain no matter what yet still play (osrs or rs3), you might as well milk them for all they’re worth, because they’re going to complain anyways.

I get the feeling that the MTX team runs entirely separate from PR and mainline development. The MTX actions are consistently contrary to the stated company direction. I would like to see it introduced through gameplay. TH and dxp tokens aren't options for Ironmen. stuff like this is frustrating.

This is absolutely the case. The actual devs do great work when allowed to. The art, breadth, and feel of the game is really unique. It has it's quirks, of course, but its solid. Pair that with it constantly shifting hands to new investors, though, and having to be at their mercy, and you have the makings for this kind of yo-yoing. 100% the develop is hamstrung by the terrible decisions of the higher ups who care for nothing about the game other than the numbers it outputs. TH does that, so it stays. I know the devs themselves care about the game, they have the passion for it. But they can only develop and release what they're allowed to spend time on. That's not their fault. It's Jagex managements' and particularly owners' doing that allows (or rather forces) stuff like this to occur.

True tile indicators are necessary because of how complex the game mechanics have gotten. Just look at the awakened DT2 bosses.

I would be less worried about this if it was TH only for short period of time, then you can get it in game after assuming it's JUST a 6% xp increase. I completely gave up on runescape (3) just a bit over a year ago and moved to other games (mostly final fantasy 14) and am much happier. Eventually I'll come back and try out an ironman, but I don't think my main will ever max again. It just isn't the game I loved playing as a teen anymore. The only reason I even found your video was that I'm still following the rs3 subreddit semi-regularly. I didn't even bother coming back when necromancy releases, the only runescape I'm interested in currently is when osrs has one of their leagues.

@@lolbajset it is similar in a way that there is a global cooldown, and it has skills as the main way of dealing damage. It is completely different in the way that each class (or job) has its own "rotation" as in, order you're supposed to press your buttons in. there's also lots of buttons on each Job that you can use inbetween your global cooldown, as the global cooldown is relatively slow (2,5 seconds by default). I personally enjoy it very much, but if you wanna have a basic tldr on combat I genuinly recommend "a crap guide to final fantasy - DPS" from joecat. He's explaining it in a very meme-y way but is genuinly a very good starter

I'll say it again.. I quit rs3 to play osrs IRONMAN and it's probably the best thing I've done.. I never felt like I was missing out on "rare TH items" or any FOMO about any TH drops or rare cosmetics ETC. I really want to come back to play rs3 , my main on rs3 has 4B + EXP. Comp caped (up until necro dropped) . I'm thinking of coming back to explore rs3 from a different perspective as a Group Ironman. That way I'm not tempted to buy any keys or even look at the TH interface

Is it not basically just purely cosmetic? Going from 0-200m xp saves you a total of like 4 hours, and the vast majority of people past lvl 99 gain xp through cb, which the outfit wouldn’t help with.

Ppl still cry when there is buyable cosmetics on TH because their small brain tells them to rather gamble 1b in bonds into keys rather than just buy the 100m cosmetic straight up from GE instead. Oh and dear god they don't hit the 1% chance after spending 1b in keys they will go to reddit to call out "shady business practices" and "predatory mtx". When again all they had to do is use their brain and say *neeiiighhh* to gambling. But I guess that is hard for underdeveloped weak minded humans.
