A very different kinda film for indian Audience. Story is average but cinematography, direction and acting is just brilliant. History says that indian Audience has never accepted a new experiment and Bollywood kept making same kinda story in same manner without improvising direction, cinematography, etc with time. But now it seems from past 1-2 years things are changing in Bollywood.

@trollmaster9696 no there isn't. Disney doesn't make Hindi films anymore (they have actually mentioned this and only release their own content or distribute films in India through their company UTV). Also the sequel was contingent on the first one doing well at the box office rather than it losing money which is what happened with the original. That's also not to mention the fact that the first one was barely completed after the actors had a breakup and fight which would make getting them together again for a sequel pretty damn hard.

@trollmaster9696 a cliffhanger doesn't mean that there's going to be a sequel. It just means they left open a possibilty for a sequel. The sequel was always dependant on box office performance. This film lost big money and went through major delays. Also the lead actors don't want to work together which is why the original went through so many delays and reshoots (now imagine trying to make a whole sequel in that sort of enviroment). And yes Disney is distributing a film. That doesn't mean they will produce another Hindi film. Disney and Disney owned Indian subsidiary UTV has stopped producing Hindi films altogether (they actually did before this film was even released). Distribution is the all Disney does in India anymore outside of dubbing (which is also only for in house Disney films).

A lot of Indians didn't like it, but most young people, including me, loved it, it's not common to see such things in Bollywood, but if we pay a little attention at Ranbir's work, he does uncommon films a lot, it may not be the BEST film you see, but DEFINITELY worth a watch

It’s not a crap. It has lots of cultural and old Bengali film (by Satyajit Ray) references. If you’re not familiar with them you’ll be lost ! However You should go by your instinct whether you watch a film or not.

I think this movie would be termed a classic in the future because it was so different and underrated when it released. I don't like Ranbir that much but this was one of his best movies. Katrina tried hard too. It was such a fantastical movie, so unreal. I could watch it again and again. His hair reminded me of Tintin, which was probably the inspiration.

Jagga jasos was a masterpiece that Indian audience specially bolly-audience dont deserve... If hollywood makes its remake/adaptation that will be a blockbuster.. Director has presented some serious crimes with sweet musical and emotional touch.. Anurag Basu can only create jems of cinema like this.. Ranbir at his best along the phenomenal acting by the support cast... Hope you guys will justify this... Plz plz plz do watch and review.. I guarantee this will be one of Rick's all time favourite movie..

This is a brilliant film. Disney first announced the launch on 2014, but then it took around 3 years to release at 2017, i personally saw this 3-4 times in theaters. Amazing and adventurous. I personally recommend this to you guys, cause as you said "how often does disney invest in India".

Watch this as soon as possible if you have not yet. I know you released this video a while back but this movie deserves the mention. Being a bengali it definitely holds more nostalgic significance to me considering the innumerable references to our culture but as a pure piece of art it pays homage to amultitude of great film makers from across the world and on top of that is a spectacle to watch. Its a great movie. A typical disney musical and Indian audience are not used to that, you know for like all the old princess cartoon movies in which every other line/dialogue is a song. That's the reason it got mixed reviews. Other than that, it has a great storyline, amazing visuals (Disney's magic of course) and the acting is cute which kinda keeps you attached throughout the movie.

You missed the Alfred Hitchcock reference with the women's murder from the clock tower and Buster Keaton reference from the wall falling on then. The director is a fan of old Hollywood comedies and he references these things quite highly through his films. Like the Charlie Chaplin-ish comedy in Barfi. The movie is also inspired by Adventures of Tintin, Harry potter and Young Sherlock.

The musical dialogues in this movie did become jarring after a point especially coz it's a thriller you want the dialogues to grip you but otherwise visually and cinematically especially in the second half this movie is magnificent with the colours visuals action stunts animals locations and the music was superb by Pritam and Ranbir Kapoor nailed it what a performance he put

this is a way ahead movie hence was not taken very seriously..the concept, the direction and cinematography is awesome....Bengali influence everywhere. the dialogues are mostly in poetry/song hence could tire people. JAsoos means detective...and is linked with arms dropping that happened in a small town in Bengal..ranbir's character ventures out to find his father who is a secret agent.....I liked it and my kids loved it...too

This is a really good watch. Perhaps not very Bollywood and therefore the box office performance. But it is really cool. If you've grown up reading and watching detective stories and movies, you'll love it. It's also got really fun references to these. Bengalis will identify quite a few more references than others perhaps. Jagga Jasoos is worth a watch.
