Unbelievable! Long gone are the days when a couple of you could get a car ready from scratch in a couple of evenings and a Saturday. Did we have any less fun? I don't think so.

I'm kind of sad while i watching this video (mixed emotions). Because Banger Race is one of my greatest passions. Unfortunally i lack the mechanical skills, room, and money to prepare a banger car. So with a bit of sadness in my heart (while enjoying the race offcourse), i'm standing along the track realising that i never would get any closer to banger race while being a spectator, instead of being a driver 😥

I`ve been there too, seems you have to be in the right kind of job for one thing. Doing it from your front garden on your own just isn`t an option.

Back in the day we would prepare and race up to three bangers a week. No reinforcement allowed. No water tanks allowed. No huge bonnet bolts allowed. Road car to ready to race in less than three hours inc respray and sign writing.

Whats with the water tanks thesedays.Do you use a total loss method during a race.?The days of the radiator and long hoses in the back seat area seem to have gone?Engines just boiled up and popped.

Its basically let it get hot during race thwn come in and dump it. Refill etc

Health and saftey. If a hose bursts inside a car it will scold the driver whereas a steamtank is there for strength and also a way of cold water going in. And hot water straight back out instead of recirculating it and if a hose bursts its well away from the driver
