This is the first part of my build of the NEW Jaguar E type (XKE) in 1/24 by Revell. This video also coincides with the 60th anniversary of this legendary icon of the 1960s.
The 269 hp Jaguar E-Type, which was launched in 1961, featured an extra-long bonnet. With a top speed of 241 km/h, its performance was truly exceptional.

Being a product of the 60’s myself and fan of British music, I’ve always liked the early Pink Floyd albums. I even have an original UK pressing of their debut album in my collection. I found it at a music store in the 80’s.

I'd completely forgotten I'd asked about '60s music in this video! 😅 I grew up near Cambridge and we used to go to the pub where Pink Floyd were founded - although I think it was a Jazz club back then.

@@BOABModels The Revell kit of the 1966 VW is another model which has many parts which all combine to make up a wonderfully detailed engine. I like that quality in a Revell kit. Or at least the ones I have built which is considerable. Cheers, Spencer! Cork

Yes, that's true - I made the Revell cabriolet in 2020. The Revell Golf Gti has a detailed engine bay too.

Great job im still actually working on heller convertible version but i have this ione for the future to build but engine set up is all thats same i actually taut the heller was same kit bit i know now from watching u build this that its not same alot Different set ups but looks good great job so fare

I built the Heller E-type last year and had difficulties with it. The rear suspension needs an octopus to hold it together while adding parts to it! After carefully building the engine, I later found that the bonnet wouldn't close all the way- I couldn't find a reason for that. I almost chucked the whole thing in the bin at this point, but after cementing the bonnet closed and clamping it in place it looked ok from a distance. I didn't enjoy building it and may well replace it with the Revell version when the convertible is available.

@@ianthomson9363 oh sh#t man u better believe it iv still not finished it chassis finished witout wheels and exaust and body still in 3 pieces and needs repainting iv had nothing but problems with it im after building atleas 10 other models since i started that it closed up again i guess for anotger few months b4 i consider painting again but i have this revelle in stash since came out here in Ireland so i think next time i decide to build on A E TYPE JAGUAR ill unbox and start on my revelle one. Have you got a channel if u have ill pop on bye throw u a sub great hobby we all have here awsome community.. Hey also Heller braught out new jaguar its red box art and its the exact same kit as the green one only with the hard top like this revelle one,, 👍👍Keith

@@keithsmodelsandrcs6593 I feel your pain! I'll definitely replace the Heller version with the Revell kit. I do have a youtube channel- no videos, but 3 subscribers (?). I'm not into making videos as there are a lot of better modellers than me out there- I can definitely recommend SteamGeezer and Son Independent Traders for some great tips, good advice and sometimes quirky builds.

I am on youtube 2 half years when i only started was just unboxings look everyone has to learn i was same even when i done all my unboxings id 1 sub but i was getting to know people i watched by subscribing to them and then i got shout out cause id unboxing vids up and 2 final builds like finished and i got the shout outs people gave me advice and said do not build to satisfy others build for your satisfaction and if u finish a build and u like ut regardless what others think if u like it then thats all who matters u so if u build and its not as good as exspected then who cares its for a hobby ur learning and uhave acheived a step up so what ever someone points out is wrong or didnt look right then u say to urself after u look and figure he is or could be rite.. Say yes this could of been better but im learnig will try concentrate on this part of my next build a bit more then u inprove ill help u out if ever need advice glad to help im no pro im not as good as half guys do it but you will be as long as ur building learning and having fun while u do so hardest part for me starting was getting clear piece on witout finger prints in glue going on the clear light lenses and the window so always use a clear pvc glue on glass clear parts and use masking tape to hold front of the lens,es or windows so ur fingers isnt near them an dry fit them first so u know which way its rite.. U will soon get hang of it and everyone in modelling community youtube share ideas help each other always b4 u know it u will start flying with the subs ill sub to u anyway u can upload couple finished builds if u decide to and just point out first build new to modelling and point out ware u think urself u could or want to be better at in the model building hobby. Again ill help if ever need too watch the vids of most channels that do the full build in one short 10 to15min video andul see what they do noone is excellent first time round but people do doubt themselves alot and thats probably what you are doing rite now so have think give it a bash and start uploading u get one or 2 vids up there ill ask the guys on my video to check out ur new modeling channel and few more will sub the more u post more youll get recognised and your confidence will get better in your self and thats it.. You are probably much better that u believe.. Think about it u dout have to edit just record talk sign ofd by say see you next time if like like if want to see more plz consider subbing and so on👍👍

Nice build so far Thomas. Lots of great artists in the 60’s but for pure volume of high quality music, no one beats the Beatles. Question. Why do modellers put the super thin glue on the outside of joints? Doesn’t leave a film when painting over it later?

I’m surprised with just how many parts make up that engine mate! I actually had similar “fitment” issues with my C7.R I did a few months ago, which I did find was the primer. Looking forward to the next one 👍🏻

It is a bit of a risk when the parts are made to fit 'too well'... I just hope the bonnet closes nicely over the top!

Good show! So many errors and cost cutting on this recent E kit. So disappointing. Tamiya would have done it for the ages like that sweet 300SL. The best kit is still the Heller or the Gunze if you can find one.

Nice build so far Thomas. Good choice of color. Although I like the XJ-S more than the E-type (yes I know it was a bit heavy and poor BL build quality). The 1960's I think 'Thunderbirds are go' and music The Four Seasons and a bit of everything. Most songs of the 1960's were very short: between 2:30 and 3:00 minutes. So the 1970's: best Beatles song for me' Let it be' and I like a lot of Paul McCartney like the period with Wings (Silly Lovesongs, With A Little Luck),The Four Seasons (completely different sound than the 60's), The Mama's and the Papa's, Toto, Little River Band and a lot of Dutch bands like Earth & Fire, KayaK, Shocking Blue (Venus) to name just a few.

@@BOABModels Looking forward to that TWR XJ-S touring car, that's a very nice car. And what about John Lennon's 'Woman 'great song. I'd like to add that I like a lot of music from soft sweet (like the Carpenters) to rock, hard rock, symphonic rock (sometimes combined with classical music) and blues. Music is so important it makes you feel good. To quote John Miles from his song 'music': music was my first love............and it will be my last ; music of the future....... and music of the past.
