The level of support for the IPACE by dealers was shocking prior to the announcement around discontinuation of the car - too much reliance on Jag Assistance for most problems. Now, I would not touch one with a barge pole given they come to an end this December. Real shame, epic car and JLR never bothered to capitalise on that fact when it was first released in 2018. The one EV car that got it right and didn't feel like a go kart when pulling away. RIP

I bought a 2021 facelift model a month or so ago. 36k miles, nice condition, HSE full spec...£26k. I know it's a risk buying a used EV, and although I've had 'real' Jags in the past (big old XJs and Sovereigns) I think the dealers really struggle with EV tech. Have they moved on since servicing the lovely old straight 6 engines...I think not. I would be looking for specialists for repairs. But I tried some other EVs and they left me cold. Went back to fossil fuel cars, choosing between either a top spec used Range Rover or an AMG Merc SUV. Then drove the i-pace and fell in love with it. This car in HSE spec is a lovely machine to be in, and it feels like a proper sports car, but has almost zero running costs and plenty of carrying capacity. It may be an old design now, but turns heads, looks cool as hell and is a car you find yourself just looking out of the window at when it's on your drive. The acceleration is up there with a 400/500HP AMG Merc, without the 20mpg running costs. And the Rangy's and Mercs I was looking at were way more expensive than the £26k I paid for this i-pace (similar year/mileage/spec/power) Almost all of the time I charge slow at home, so I'm hoping the battery will last with this careful charging. Charging away from home is shocking though.....price per mile about double my other car (a BMW convertible with big petrol engine). That's ridiculous. I wonder if network charging on the continent is as expensive as the UK?? One thing I was warned about that I now agree with...EV's are boring! Lots of acceleration with 400HP, but no noise, no gear changes. It's like driving a fast fridge. So, I find myself just cruising and not flooring it all the time like I did when I owned my last daily driver car (a twin turbo E-class).

What would you recommend for repairs? Here in NL there are also very affordable at the moment, but exactly this worries me. I did read a review that Jag dealer fairly close to us provides repairs, but this was before jag stopped producing...

I had a cesium blue black edition SE on a 71 plate. The car was absaloutely amazing, however the range was shocking and the charging time was slow.I swapped it after a year for an ID5 which is just as cool and funky as the Ipace. The ID5 has a longer range and more safety features included on it.I completely agree that the Ipace is a great car but let down with older technology that hasn't moved on.

I have a 2019 I PACE HSE. I have the same error (battery fault) you mentioned. It spent 35 days in the shop, error was gone for a week and now it is back. Car feels great to drive and I love it however, service is unreliable. I would not recommend.

Jaguars have never had a good reputation for reliability, however by the end stages of Ford's ownership they were of a better-built quality and dare I say more reliable than they had ever been, it's probably fair to say now, with the complexities of ICE and the many features cars come with, there won't be any car manufacturer that has the reliability of the quality brands from 20 to 30 years ago, I've own a few jaguars over the last 15 years and currently have an I-Pace, a HSE-FE and clocked up over 4K miles in the last 3 months, the car has been faultless and a dream to drive, Jaguar get a bit of a hard time but I'd say the majority of owners enjoy the Jaguar for it's Grace....Space...Pace....

Two months ago i had that same alarm, high voltage system fault detected came up twice after 30 minute fast charge on the M1, thought it was just the battery getting hot, then last week took the car off the home charger and i had another alarm traction battery fault detected, waiting to be able to get the JLR dealer to have a look at the problem, as of now it will only charge to 72%

Looks nice in black, credit to JLR for making something a bit unusual looks wise. JLR build quality & reliability puts me off owning one of their cars unfortunately. Really surprised that for such a huge battery the range is so low, a bit disappointing that the ICE manufacturers seem to struggle to build an efficient EV capable of 4.5 - 5.5 miles per kWh like Tesla.

If you have the traction battery fault it means one of your batteries has died. Happened to me in late December and I’m still waiting for the repair (next month). But JLR offered 13p a mile compensation for the miles I have driven with 75% battery range. Replacing the broken traction battery is a 3 day job for a team of 3. I’m moving to hybrid soon after it’s fixed. Fed up with EV life, the high charging costs and poor range with the anxiety of finding a working charger.

I had one of the first iPace cars that came out in 2018. Jaguar had to come out and rescue me when it failed on its very first charge. The software was not good. It went back. If you have £20k to spend and want modern tech in a used EV, look at the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Even the 54kWh battery goes nearly as far as the iPace with its 90kWh battery. Charging at 350kW, it blows iPace charging away. Just a thought.

@@electricfocus1710 Hurry up mate :) I'm right now having a hard time choosing between the full EV i-pace and the ModelY, or go back to regular e-pace hybride :/ for the same range of price, I could get a hybrid Mercedes GLC 300e Matic coupé (with 130km autonomy!) (I always buy second hand)

Apologies it’s been a bit hectic with work, hopefully something out by the weekend. Re your I-Pace/Model Y, they’re quite different animals. If you want the best tech, best range much faster charging, fantastic charging infrastructure and ease of use and like the Tesla minimalist design then it’s an easy choice. 😁

I bought a 72 reg iPace a few weeks ago. Three weeks after purchase the power steering failed. Service centre it would take FOUR WEEKS before they could even look at it due to a backlog. Rejected the car and got a refund. JLR really have crippled a stunning looking and driving car with the unreliability issues and lack of development over its lifespan.

Bad away that fault that shows in the video it is the beginning of the end! That’s what I had showing in the dash before the inverter went! And once the inverter it’s gone you are done! 10K to get a new one!

What's the mileage on your car? These reliability issues are surely likely to get worse as it gets older making it a bit of a doubtful proposition second hand. I currently have a BMW i3 REX. I made the mistake, I guess, of buying secondhand a reasonably high mileage example when I also do fairly high annual miles so mine's now at 116,000. There's only one i3 on Autotrader that's done more (out of 660 for sale). But then I do the same check for the i-Pace and the highest mileage is 87,000.! (i3s came out way earlier though.) I think I've been lucky with mine (touch wood) needing only 2 days off the road (in 34,000 miles) for brake disks and suspension gators (plus cosmetics).

Depends how you purchase your car. I get mine through work and pay a lease over four years including all of the above. In terms of electric cost, I do most of my charging at home on a cheap rate overnight tariff currently 7p/kWh, so about £6 for a full charge, under 3 pence per mile.

Left stranded on the highway many times, air conditioning broke down constantly, door handles did not come out more then once, had to have the all battery pack changed by Jag cos it was faulty and only charging up to 72 percent, had to change the 12W batteries, and now it is still in the garage the inverter is fried the car is not driving or going on can’t even open the damn thing! An absolute nightmare! The worst car I had ever had! Such shame cos it is a beautiful fan to drive car! Advice? STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!!

The battery fault is probably the small 12v battery on its way out, we had a similar warning on our Nissan leaf and it was the 12v battery, needlessly to say Nissan weren't interested without an expensive diagnostic check
