Eh the look isn't the real problem. They got rid of what made them special to begin with. Big engines, comfortable ride, quality materials, all at a lower price than equivalent cars. Now, they don't even have an XJ and their biggest sedan's biggest petrol engine is a 2 liter...

Wherever Jaguar is heading its heritage as luxury and sport is their brand identity. Going to low-volume production and most likely high end bespoke market is their direction. A wood dash and leather interiors are a must. Grand touring is their calling card. Never a truck, SUV, or a crossover. When I think of Jaguar, it is 1. Powerful and sporty convertibles. 2. Fast and luxurious sedans. Anything else would be a waste of time. EVs must be smaller overall to keep weight down and performance up. The generous space of the interior accommodations can not suffer in the least. It is a rich person's car. It is something to be desired and obtained. It is not a commodity for the everyman, but everyman will want it.

The US market now is SUVs they will make luxury SUVs Ford and GM no longer produce cars as such and Jaguar will go the same way although they will probably keep a sports car much like a Mustang or Corvette, hopefully the build quality does not suffer.

In the UK the majority of Jaguar dealers are being closed or already have closed. If you have a petrol or diesel Jaguar, service is now at the Land Rover / Range Rover dealer. Think muddy boots & gun dogs ! I don't expect to see Jaguar survive with an EV only model line up at a vastly increased price point. When thinking about the E type, it may once have appealed to older gents like my father, but he will be 90 next year, he is not looking for a car that is a liability to own, and at 62 nor am I.

I think all of the cars they came out in the 2000s. I think they purposely made them look outdated and old. It seemed like maybe 2012 car manufactures intentionally made their cars look less modern like the Chevy. Malibu is a good example from being rounded to squared it’s like as if we went back in time. The whole entire industry I don’t think is made for educated people. I don’t think an educated person would buy if they were struggling financially. If I follow Hoovie’s plan for a Jaguar relaunch it is to concentrate on beautiful design, not strictly performance. He seems to think that if they go electric than they will automatically steal design cues from Tesla and Fisker. What if the new vehicles are beautifully designed, built to be a smaller, more exclusive lineup - perhaps only built when ordered, rather than built to spec. Priced accordingly. With an electric drive train? Perhaps focus on the old Grace, Pace, Space concept. A car built to be silent, with comfy seats and plenty of acceleration without going for track times. A personal luxury coupe and sedan and estate. The key, and I think Tyler is right here, is to have a truly jaw dropping beautiful design.

I haven’t seen a single favorable opinion on Jaguar’s plans. Everyone thinks is a bad idea that will most likely cause the end of the brand for a few reasons: - Axing the pretty much the whole line up will leave the few remaining dealers with pretty much nothing to sell, so buyers won’t have any other option than to get something from a competitor, of which there are plenty (Tesla, MB, BMW, Audi, Lexus, Genesis, Volvo…) - It will take more than a year to roll out the first model of the new line up. - A full electric lineup only makes sense if you are a new car brand. Stablished brands need a mix of internal combustion and electric powered cars since traditional buyers are not ready to jump on the EV wagon just yet, perhaps never. - Jaguar competing at the same level as RR and Bentley is non sense. Jags are nice cars, but it has always been clear that they are not at the same level as those brands. They are more mainstream and prices are in line with MB and BMW. No none will pay 250K to 400K for a Jaguar. Whoever came up with this plan doesn’t understand what Jaguar means and has 0 respect for its history, customers and Sir Williams Lyon's legacy. That guy must be rolling in his grave.

If they would head in the V12 direction, they would be heading for bankruptcy.

@@Mastermind12358 from what I understand manufacturer's right now basically need to sell 1 ev for every gas car they sell. More so in Europe then the USA because of the buying ev credit system. So why not sell high profit v12 gas cars. You know the kind that will make car guys drool and of course the more average cars ev. Side note v12 isn't dead. At least not yet Aston Martin just brought back the v12 for the new vanquish after 5 years without any v12 street cars and the Ferrari Purosangue is also a new v12 car

@@zrally2107 Because making and maintaining halo cars is very expensive. Those V12's you're talking about are old engines, not new engine design. Creating and developing a brand new engine is very risky and expensive, and nobody will be doing a new V12 ever. Do you want Jaguar to put the old 5.3 V12 back into production? Electric is the future, for car guys that are in denial that sounds very stupid. But ten years from now people will laugh at the idea that internal combustion engines were thought of as being better than electric. Ask the average kid today what their dream car is, they aren't saying V12 Jag, they're saying Tesla Plaid. For them, luxury isn't wood and leather, its bluetooth.

I think Jaguar is on the brink. So they can either keep trying to find a way to get ahead in a dying market or try their hand in this new market. We also tend to forget that we are not the car market. We are a chunk, but if Jag partners with an EV brand out of China, they could build an EV sports car which currently consist of an old Tesla and out of reach super cars. The rest of the ‘sport’ EV market is a bunch of sedans and an odd but great large hatchback from Hyundai.
