My interest ended with the last V12 powered types.Bearing in mind the factory long ago turned its back on product support of classic Jaguar owners.Because it knew that the Ford era was all downhill, retrograde and inferior to what went before. To those who thought that the Leyland era was the low point should have been careful what they wished for. I'd now have my doubts about Jaguars willingness or ability for parts support for even the current ICE fleet.

Absolute madness. To be honest it isn't the first time Jaguar have got it wrong in the last 10 years. The scrapping of the XK and keep the Ftype as their only sports car was a major error. The XK as a GT car could have had a few more years. I would have added the 3.0 diesel back in 2010 and would have helped the car compete with BMW and Mercedes who also used 3.0d in their coupes. The scrapping of the XJ was also madness. They could have kept it until 2024 with a refresh in 2019-2020 ten years in.
@TX200AAАй бұрын
I have a 2012 XK, and they are brilliant GT cars. Jaguar missed a huge opportunity. What they should have done was an update, particularly to replace the outdated screen and DVD driven satnav with the more modern system already in their other cars, and to fit the 8 speed gearbox.. What a great long distance GT car the XK would have been as the 8 speed would have improved fuel consumption. They could also Have put the 3 litre V6 from the F Type in the XK, but the one I would have loved would have been the 3 litre 300bhp diesel.

As I have now seen this re-branding trailer yesterday. I guess, They know, that they have to find a complete new customer base as an EV Brand. We old Jag Owners in general don't really want EVs or Hybrids.And it has very little to do with logical reasons, therefore you cant really "convince" us to change our taste. So as we can't be the target audience anyway, why not just going boldly different so so we just turn away instead of staying around but criticising every decision. Maybe that's a smart move in the long run. And I see there can be two Succesfull versions of Jag in the Future. Either they deliver some crazy spaceship like EVs that are uncompromisingly focused on style elegance and power and ignore all the efficency crap that makes EVs Ugly. But they make it really expensive and sell a few hundred cars per year. This can work, but it will then be out of reach for average people. Or they make something that really appeals to Gen-Z etc. and archieve what most other brands fail at. Selling cars to the younger generations. But then it must be something wildly different than the old stuff and they must also find a business model that works with people that have no money.

Could Jaguar have gone a bit more upmarket with pricing of ICE adding €15k to the price or absorbing part of that €15k that the EU will fine conpanies from 2030 on each ICE sale ? Which companies don't have EVs?
@keithshayle70273 ай бұрын
You are really missing the point, and are probably unaware of the change in strategy when Thierry Bollore became CEO of JLR. It was realised that Jaguar simply couldn't compete with the usual or so boring German premium brands. They couldn't sell enough to provide the investment for future models. The idea behind the new policy is to take Jaguar into a sector such as Aston/Bentley etc where the cars are being sold at a price point where to make a profit you don't need to sell as many. They don't want the customers they used to have, who would bug an F-Pace or even an EV I-Pace, they want customers who might buy a Bentley Flying Spur, or a top end Lucid Air. The old customers would be simply considered too poor to be able to buy a future Jaguar. If you were coming out of a Porsche Trashcan maybe fine, if you were coming out of a Mercedes E Class etc then you've come to the wrong place! Maserati are trying the same by doubling the price of all their cars, the problem is they are tye same cars that used to cost half as much. The EV side of things that you are getting so hung up on, really won't matter to the type of customer that Jaguar will be looking for, they won't be living on a residential street where you live, in fact don't take this the wrong way, but they won't even ever need to visit the people who live in those streets. Barclay Square on a Saturday Nigut, or parked near to Ramsays Lucky Fish restaurant in the West End is where Jaguar hope you will see there new cars. In twenty years the Chinese will dominate the mass and premium markets, and the likes of Mercedes BMW Audi could be consigned to the history books!

I seriously considered this aspect before making the video, if they do have something (like a battery that will beat all others, and quickly be scalable to become very cost efficient) they are keeping it very close to the chest, but the I-Pace was one of the first prestige electric cars to market that wasn’t just a conversion of a combustion/hybrid chassis, so there’s a chance. it would be great to be doing a follow up video to this in a year if they do 👍
