Jaguar, Range Rover, Ford, Rover, Vauxhall? - Searching for a new daily driver - What will it be?

Had a similar choice to make myself a few weeks ago, Jaguar, BMW, Merc and went for the Jaguar XF S 3.0lt twin turbo diesel Portfolio version, Pre-Facelift Styling - 2009, as only had 82k, FSH and the Tan Leather I preferred, absolutely lovely drive, very smooth, Loads of power when required! and I just preferred the looks of pre-facelift over the facelift version by a tiny bit (both lovely though), economy is not brilliant at mid 20's around Town but do live in a very Hilly area and can get around upper 30's to around 40 on a more mixed run (But not been on a really decent run yet to see what it can really do) good choices but like you I dismissed range rover on poor economy and felt it was a little over the top for my usual needs I looked at some local dealerships & was shocked to see some cars like 2008 Honda Jazz auto, 2009 Auto Yaris's & 2012 Vauxhall Astras going for around £6.5-£7k -- and for that money I could have a bit of Luxury & class with an XF...Choices, Choices...Pretty easy for me in the end, Either have something that was just transport or something I would actually be happy to drive Hope you make a choice that you really feel is right for you Kev

I would choose a diesel Jaguar. 2.7 S-type must be cheaper to maintain, 2.0 XF has a more modern look.

That is a good choice. Although there are many other choices that will not be wrong.

What's happening with the xkr.

The XKR is close to getting its paint. There have been some personal issues that have slowed progress. I am excited to get it back soon.
