The main issue is the lack of diversity of thought. I'd be prepared to bet that every single 'diversity' hire thinks exactly the same way. It would be all the superficial progressive nonsense where people's skin colour, gender and sexual identify are literally all that matters. There would be no interest in finding out what customers actually want from the Jaguar brand because that highlights the differences in values between the creative team and the people who will be buying the product. This leads to stupid 'paint by the numbers' marketing which just boils down to 'diverse people/family uses product, buy product'.

They get put in charge of this well-established brand and think they can just do whatever and still be profitable. They don't understand that the only thing harder than becoming successful is staying successful. And look, there are companies where the branding doesn't matter that much. I don't think most people who shop at Walmart, Amazon, or McDonald's do so because they think those companies are cool. They shop there because it's cheap and convenient. (Obviously, the branding was important to this companies becoming successful in the first place, but they could run stupid ads for a long time and still do fine as long as their products stayed cheap.) But if you're selling luxury items, the branding is the product.
