I'm not sure why people think the writing with Galadriel is horrible. If you look at it as written, it's really not bad at all. It's a story about a prideful and ignorant character making decisions that lead to a villain winning. In this story, she's not Ellen Ripley, she's more like the Burke guy, if the story focused on him.
