Thank you for such an out of the box solution! Can I spray into that mysterious thing with WD 40, or you don't recommend it?

How exactly does the bcm come out? By the looks of it, it appears as though you have taken it out of the drivers footwell? (Uk right hand drive) how is it secured? Cheers

it sits on a plastic bracket with a tab push the tab down and then it releases.

Sorry its taken me some time to get back to this. I've just not had the time to work on it but the issues have become so bad I can no longer ignore it. So having a look today there is a plastic cover in the drivers footwell and it cant actually see anything. I'm not a good contortionist so I can't exactly see how it's held in place and how its removed. Ive looked everywhere online to find a diagram showing what needs removing and from where but that search got me nowhere. How on earth did you get to this BCM?

I've just realised I have an 09 x type and I think they may have changed after 07 hence why it's not jumping out to me
