Manual 5-speed gear box needs 1.9l gear oil (referring to originally English repair and service manual)

Is this jacking point okay? Nothing to be bent? Because there's quite a discussion about the best way to jack an X-type. Some are building wooden blocks with drilled holes to fit a frame bolt. Your way seems quite easy... but is it also safe?

Great job. Does this procedure differ a lot from the automatic gearbox? As i heard that to fully change the auto gearbox you should drain then fill then drive then drain then refill then drive till the oil that is coming out looks all new. Am i right? Thank you

Automatic procedure is completely different and plugs (both level check and drain) are in different spots....and yes, with automatic you have to drain out about 3.5 quarts at a time...put in 3.5 fresh and then run the car for about 15 seconds. Then repeat about 3-4 times. You will never get it 100% changed out but you will get about 70%+ new in that way. And for automatic fluid you MUST use transmission fluid that meet the Jag specs or prepare for disaster.

@@daddylogan Why can't you just drain it once, fill it once, and call it a day on the automatic transmission for the x-type?
@daddylogan5 жыл бұрын
@@Jake_20011 Because on this car only about 3.5 quarts will drain out at a time. You never get a full drain as this transmission was sold as a "sealed for life" type deal meaning people are suppose to believe you never have to change the tranny fluid on this car...which is BS of course! So that is why you have to drain out 3.5 quarts...put back in 3.5 quarts of new fluid...run the car for a few seconds to circulate it and then repeat the process to "try" and get most of the old fluid out - which you will never achieve a 100% trade out. The goal is to get it around 70% new fluid and then you don't have to worry about it probably for the rest of the cars life.

You can buy GL-5 in a Squeeze Bag no need for hoses. Valvoline sells it.
