I make repairs to a sagging, separated headliner over a weekend.

Yours is the first headliner replacement video that I've found for the X150 so many thanks for making it. I've got to do the same job on my 2006 XK and I've been wondering about the possibility of removing and re-gluing the existing fabric, minus the original foam backing, and it never occurred to me that the original fabric might not fit to the edge! In the circumstances you've done a great job but, having seen your video, I think I'll either go for buying some new fabric or buying a pre-covered fibreglass headliner which simply swaps out for the original. These are available in the original colours for only $200 in the UK. The colour match won't be 100% because the pillars, sunshades etc, will probably have faded since new but at least you get a good solid base rather than the original cardboard stuff. Richard

Sure, I need to redo it with some better contact adhesive, I will make another, more descriptive video of the removal and installation.

Thank you for posting this, extremely helpful. I have a trimmer friend who has offered to do it for me on mine so I will have to take the headliner out myself. You said it came out through the passenger door, was that relatively easy? How long did it take you? Thank you in advance

Hi Erik, yeah as with all car interior stuff you have to go carefully and not be in a rush. That said this was relatively easy and straightforward. I think it took about a half hour to remove it and it helps to be able to open the passenger door fully. Hope you have easy success!

Great video! Did you disconnect the battery? And did it go in/out via the door ok? Also, do you think it would be alright to drive with it taken out? (I don’t know what might be hiding underneath) Sorry for all the questions… I’ve got a long trip this weekend and not much time to investigate myself, let alone do the work!

Thank you, I did not disconnect the battery. It came out through the passenger door with some gentle manipulation. I think it'd fine to drive with it out but would require the rear and front A pillar trim panels to be reset in their respective places to prevent any attachment clips from going wandering during travel. Maybe put the visors back too?

Mouse fur headliner failure! Here in texas, that foam does not stand a chance. I just go down to the local fabric store and buy that stuff right off the rolls. Your end result was first rate!
