As an XK8 owner in the UK that is the cleanest underneath I have ever seen. Lovely car

Suggest you leave a plastic remover tool on each fuel line for future use. They are cheap enough but difficult to instal on the lines from scratch.

The best set of wheels I've ever owned and it's 17 years old. It makes my Ferrari 308 GTSQV feel like a kit car.

Great job guys I actually changed my pump with tank in situ. It is an xkr and it has 2 pumps in there one for normal running and one for when the supercharger kicks in. I thought if the pump was to go again I could swap the multi plugs and limp home on the one pump.

Have a 1996 launch car XK8 convertable. Bought it with 7k miles when 6 months old and garaged it in 2012 with 107k miles on clock. Took it out of storage from semi-open barn in 2022 with idea of scrapping it after mice had nested. Put new battery on and was astonished to find it started after around 20 seconds! Used no throttle. It simply started on old fuel. Virtually all electrics still worked. Brake disc were all rusty so ran it on off road track for a while continually pumping foot brake. Took it in for test and cost was £1200 to sort out minor problems. Amazingly mice had not chewed wires, even small ones so decided to keep car. Stored it with a full tank of fuel so wonder if that helped? Has anyone else had the same luck after storing car for so long?

The hardest part is to see the fuel lines, once you see them they are not difficult to get to, getting them off is a task because you have to make sure that the disconnect tool is set in perfect place all around , then give it a tug and they come out, they are supposed to just pop out but sometimes they don't , one did and the other would not so the tool had to be set into place to make it work . It takes time to get them out.

Access to the pump through the rear subwoofer Mount area. You won't have to remove the fuel tank.

Dwight Law is this true?
@dwightlaw21054 жыл бұрын
This is definitely a true. Just remove the cover from the center subwoofer speaker. Look down and you can see access to the fuel pump. I have a 2002 Coupe.

Starting a car up for the first time in years and you revved it? That is the absolute worst thing you can do to a cold engine especially one that hasn't been run in yearso.
@DaveJudd4 жыл бұрын
The xk8 don't like old fuel, start but don;t run or rev.
