Jaguar XKR project this week:
In this episode i manage to find the locking key nut code, so hopefully it turns out to be the right one for my XKR when it arrives.

Hi Simon. Thanks so much for trying to check the spring end locations for me👍. Ive not heard from anyone else on that topic yet so when you do get the wheels off, let me know what you find mate. My method of removal for your Locking nuts, would be my pin socket. Like a 1/2 inch socket full of spring loaded pins. They are not the best of tools but they will grip the 3 holes and probably get you out of a bind if there are no alternatives. However your 'collection' seems to have handed you the perfect solution! What were the odds of you finding that code😮. Stay safe pal. P.S. re your random idle speed. Im now thinking I wonder if you have a faulty MAP (not MAF) sensor🤔 On top of bell housing below throttle body. Its a check by feel thing, but the vac line could have come adrift or it may have failed?

Hi John, no worries at all buddy, all being well, the key will arrive this week, and I can get the wheels off at last. I will take a picture or 2 and send them on over. The XKR is running CATS, but I'm guessing the coil springs should be the same directionally? I'll have a look at the MAP as you suggest and see what I find. I have also just ordered a new genuine coolant temp sensor, so I will see if that makes any difference at all, as it was a very similar issue on my very first XK8. Yeh the Jaguar keys are the same with the two lugs arranged differently according to the number. Your wheels are lovely BTW- I hope you don’t change them

Well done! Restoring old cars is a good deal of detective work. My XJR had a celebrity owner the dealer did not know about.

Great news Simon, I didn't think they was genuine Jag locking nuts. Hopefully you'll get the correct key now. If I was you I would order some solid wheel nuts to replace the ordinary ones as well, just in case they snap off 👍

So I rang today, he has several jaguar keys there, and is unsure which fits what, going up Thursday to collect them. He has another non running XKR too if you fancy that…!
