On your question on actors, 95% of people who acted as Irula tribe are people from Irula community, including Irutappan and people in the scene where tribe complaints to the Police IG Perumalsamy. The director made it a point for Manikandan(Rajakannu) and Lijomol Jose(Sengani) to stay with Irulas for 1-2 months as a fellow tribe to emulate them better in the movie.

This is an excellent movie, many people particularly in Tamil Nadu would have a problem with the fact that the movie characters were not represented the way it was in real life. But I personally don't appreciate people to learn history or any kind of moral values through movies. If you ask me I hate discrimination not just because of a movie, it coz I have a brain and it says I have to treat people equally irrespective of their caste, gender, sexual orientation. As a Movie lover I loved it and was crying literally. I felt the pain of the people who are going through such discriminations.

Most of the people who played the irula community are from the same community! the main characters rajakannu and sengeni lived with the tribe for months to get into that character! The film started an important political discussion resulting in census of all such tribes and reforms were introduced to better their live and govt. has started providing free lands to the tribe now. This movie changed the entire life of Tribes overnight. Power of Art!

I would really recommend Jaby and Achara to read about the caste system in India, its history, its impact in today's Indian (irrespective of religion or whether or not the Uppper Caste people are in India or as immigrants of other countries). I especially recommend works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jotirao Phule and Periyar who were social reformers and the pioneers of the anti-caste movement. In the contemproruy world, works of Suraj Yengde, Yashica Dutt, Meena Kandasamy etc. Casteism is a disease in India... as systemic and as state sanctioned as racism in the US. But unlike state sanction, it is also religiously sanctioned by Hinduism. Learning about it will help you appreciate these kind of socio-political movies a lot better, with a whole new depth.

Hope our History books get revised and our future generations get to learn the entire history if India rather than only focusing on the Delhi Sultanate, Mughals and British... Coz that's the majority of history we learn (atleast in CBSE schools). There are chapters and even entire books that just span the Mughal History or the British History. Meanwhile the history of say the Sikhs, Rajputs, Marathas, Cholas, Cheras, Pandyas, Ahoms, Bengalis, etc. have been summarised in paragraphs. At the most they get a page or two worth of history. That's just the sad state of our History Education focusing on the history of our oppressors rather than the history of the people of this land...

The movie has captured, to a reasonable level, the relentless and untold pain and suffering of the historically marginalized sections of our society who have been repeatedly used and abused..... One of the main objective of the movie is to stroke and evoke our emotive hot spots... How would anyone capture the emotional and psychological torment and torture of pain and suffering where the scores exceeds > 800 on the OMMP scale (Orbach and Mikulincer Mental Pain Scale )???? This movie is merely made an attempt..... More water needs to flow under the bridge. The day of reckoning is not far off

It all started with the British opression of tribal uprising..they used to charge false cases upon tribals and punish them brutally and even named some tribes as criminal tribes..after India got independence all these laws against tribals were declared unconstitutional BUT the mindset to discriminate the easy and voiceless targets was still on.

@@msraja1230 Im just saying about the origin of discrimination ‘on tribals’..As far as discrimination on tribals is concerned it started with the legal discrimination in the British rule and gradually they were disciminated socially as well..There is no social discrimination on tribals in British rule because they are predominantly forest dwelling people…so no case of upper caste and lower caste wrt discrimination ‘on tribals’ in British rule…For your kind information my dear brother Panchami lands are assigned lands to Dalits, not to Tribals…holdon, dont just jump your gun.

Jai Bhim is a fantastic movie of social ills, oppression of tribal community, atrocities by the police, lawer combo and winning a battle at the end, good and law prevails. I am in awe of Ex-Justice Shri.Chandru, he is an excellent lawyer, Judge par excellence and a role model. I have been witness of some of his sittings at Chennai high court. my point of view, Ambedkar is the true leader.. we have other great leaders as well like Mahatma Gandhi, mother terasa, Periyaar etc. But I feel Ambedkar is on top of all as he tries to fix the core problem (in a more legal way). FYI, lockup deaths based on caste/political power/money still happens in 2021 in india. Hope things will be better in future
