just dropped mine into a pond...it submerge about 3s before I retrieved it back...gonna try this with my container of rice....will revert 48 hours later if it worked...thanks for info

My drone just got wiped out by a freak wave, when taking off from a jetty. I hope the rice trick works. At the moment it's not powering on at all.

On Friday May 17 I was flying over a river in eastern Tennessee and was flying towards a suspended walking bridge. So I decided to elevate to fly over the bridge, but I could see the power lines over the bridge and flew into them. Needless to say my Mini 4 Pro went swimming. I did have any rice so I put it on top of a split A/C unit so the A/C could pull to moisture out of the drone and the battery. Now It’s Sunday May19 and everything is charging and flying. I dodged a bullet this time………

I had my p900 camera and my phone in a small rubbery basket with holes in it, we were at a beach and just as l put it down a big wave came and drowned it! l was able to save my phone but not the camera with the rice trick...

Good advice, I've read a lot of similar stories in the drone groups. I had a DJI Phantom 2 which crashed in salt water, I washed it with Isopropyl Alcohol when I got home but it never flew again. I think salt water is worse than fresh water

This actually works people ... Two years ago I accidentally left my cell phone in my jacket , and put the jacket in the washing machine. Never realized it was in there until the unit was full of water ....😅😅 Like Richie I tossed it into a bag of rice for a day .... After about a day and a half I turned it back on ..... It worked great up to this July when the volume started to fail .. It was time for a new unit then anyway .... 😊😊

The most important things you didn't really cover are: battery out ASAP, rinse with clean water ASAP, rinse and re rinse u til confident no swamp juice or salt or any other minerals left, then repeat again with distilled water, tehn shake dry as much as possible, then the rice, or hot water cupboard, or in a room with a dehumidifier drying the air aggressively. More patient equals better for the drying step. Fingers crossed. Mine spent 4 hours under salt water today. Fingers crossed indeed.

If it's summer, I like to stick any dunked (wet) electronics in a hot car (with the device not in direct sunlight, unless it's not really hot that day). The heat will cause that moisture to evaporate....but maybe in a vented bag of rice in a hot car would be even better. And of course, IMMEDIATELY remove any power source (battery) from any electronic device (if it has a removable battery) because electric + water is the biggest issue. Remove the power immediately, then dry ASAP (and for as long as you can, within reason - IE, don't rush it, let it dry thoroughly).

I am surprised to see you actually suggested this ridiculous strategy to remove liquid from a drone. What is next? Are you going to put on fake nails and then tap your beer can to reduce the potential blowout scenario? Let me guess your favorite band is Nickelback? I mean Coldplay?! lol Take a shop vac and suck all that water out immediately, suck from the charging port 1st and longest then every other possible entry point. Hours later when your bag of soggy drone rice fails miserably you will wish you had taken my advice and used a shop vac!!!
