I have not worn a wig or any form of added hair for 3 years now. It feels so good. I have 4c hair and had zero definition with wash and go when I started. I have been wearing wash and goes exclusively. Let me tell you the more we wet our hair your real curl pattern starts to show through. I never knew my 4c had a curl pattern. I do not shingle neither do I need a hard gel. Just leave in and a custard (uncle funky) shake my head and go. Ladies our 4c hair is beautiful. However you choose to rock it do so its amazing! You will look so confident and feel beautiful! Your hair is not thin! Its actually thick!! Most hair looks like that in mini braids even the loose patterns! Embrace it its gorgeous!

@K C not judging you but I will say my hair is shoulder length unstretched and waist length stretched.. it took me 6 years to get to this point so you’re gonna be wearing ALOT of braids. You may want to try different protective styles bc some can be heavy and pull at your hair. Hope you’re loving your journey tho💚 that’s exactly what natural hair is && other people misgendering you is their ignorance NOT something you should be changing to accommodate. You are every bit a woman regardless of what your hair looks like so you should choose what you like not what society does.

YASSS! The petite braid movement needs to happen! So many of us don’t have super dense, thick heads of hair! We should be proud to walk around with our hair as is to represent for our sistas that have the same hair density 😘❤️ That said, I liked the look you had in the beginning of the video. I’m always here for a more easy going look. Just twists pulled back looks super cute to me!

I absolutely love this hair style😍😍. What I also love about natural hairstyles like this is it accentuates our beautiful facial features. As black women, we have to really take into account the beauty of our bone structure, our eyes and even our skin tones to appreciate the full scope of what makes black women so beautiful💖. Our hair is just a bonus, but the beauty we already possess is endless no matter our hair textures or length. Great video!❤️

Coincidentally, I get on YT and see your video and show it to her. She’s like mom, that’s a sign😆. I’m not the greatest braider but I managed to make my daughter braids look decent. Thank you for being vulnerable during your hair journey. I have extremely thick hair but it won’t grow long. I get so frustrated because there is this unconscious social expectation that hair must be full and must be long. The standards of beauty are very Eurocentric and nature and we have to continuously fight them as black women. Not to mention, the ways in which racially ambiguous or other women of color often appropriate our culture but there is still this disinterest in black beauty. Thanks for your courage and creativity!🥰
@Brwniee95

I remember one of my stylists telling me that my hair is very thick and the growth pattern is that my hair is gonna grow outwards before growing downwards (hopefully that makes sense) so my fro will expand out before it elongates due to its density and that’s still a great way to determine growth has your fro been expanding etc? Try blow drying or getting a silk press if you really want to determine your length ⚡️🙌🏾

I would love to see more natural hair videos. I like to do braids, twists, or flat twist styles, criss cross designs on natural hair and put it up in a bun. It’s also convenient to put a wig on later in the week. TBH I’m also getting a bit tired of only seeing wig installs on KZbin, which are oftentimes pricey units that average women in their 20s or 30s with families or whatever situation cannot afford or wouldn’t prioritize. My sister, who is only one year over me, has very dense, very full hair and I always thought something was wrong with my hair because it wasn't that. I'm just now learning what it means to have less dense hair and also learning to embrace my 4z hair! Yes I said z not c. And of course, my sister's hair texture and curl pattern is much looser than mine. But I have grown to realize that beauty has multiple images. My sister can look like herself and I can look like me, completely different, and still be just as beautiful as she is. Thank you for this video. Your mini braids are so beautiful especially in the low bun! i also have fine strands... I've wanted to do mini braids since I big chopped 3 years ago but I'm scared it won't look good since it's not too long (armpit length).

It'll look good friend. That was the point of the video is feeling good AS IS. In your own skin, as God made you and your hair. Braid it up, give yourself some swoopy-swoops on your edges, add a lil headband or scarf and you'll be good!

I like it down and/or pulled back. Great job. How many plaits and how many sections? I really want to try this style. Nice size plaits, but it doesn't look like a head full of mini plaits. Excellent 💯💯💯. You and your family stay bless and healthy ✝️🙏🛐

Your hair is beautiful *JUST* *AS* *IT* *IS* Jai!! 🙌🏾 You may not have a ton of density but it is healthy and flourishing honey. 💯 One of the main reasons I love and have been a subscriber for so long is because I can *SEE* the similarities in our textures. You give me so many ideas on styles and products to try. And while everything may not always work for me the way it does for you, it always gives me a good starting point. The style you chose was quick, easy, and cute which is always right up my alley! 😁 Thanks for the post Jai. Merry Christmas and safe travels to you and your loved ones. 🤗 P.S. If you want to have a wig sale for Christmas I’m ready. 😂

Cute! I wear flat twists (similar to cornrows) around my head connecting all the ends and then tuck them in the back. I’ve been wearing this style under my wigs for a year now and when I look back on pictures from the beginning, the amount of growth is astonishing!😲 I will continue to do this for the next several years to phase-out the wigs completely. My hair is fine like yours.

Thank you for this. I needed to see that someone in KZbin land doesn’t have thick hair. Though I have a different texture,, my hair is thin. I took out faux locs last night and braided my hair until,I’m ready to wash it probably tomorrow. I saw the thinness of the braids and felt bad. I love my hair but the thinness of it bothers me. I’m writing this with my full wig on lol. I’ll see how I’m lead after I wash it tomorrow. Thank you again for sharing. It’s important. It helps.
