I like how you get right to it without a lot of unnecessary talking. Your technique is great because you demonstrate it while talking about it and explaining. Thank you!

I took up brush lettering a few weeks ago as a distraction during COVID-19 lock-down in Melbourne, Australia and of the literally hundreds of videos and articles I've read up on the topic, it's YOUR video, where you're saying to relax and have fun with it, that has finally given me that "ah-ha!" moment. It's all just now clicked, muscle memory finally taking ahold as I wrote the alphabet along with you! Such an awesome feeling to finally "get it"! Crayola markers: good-bye. On to a real brush pen!

This is the most helpful video so far 💖 as soon as I stopped following the tutorials exactly and just did what felt comfortable, my letters got instantly better. Still need to practice, but the shape is there! Also I loved what you said about your journal being a place to grow and practice, its so true because you can get caught up in all the beautiful inspo and feel inadequate in the beginning 💖

Also, the black Crayola you use at the end looks super juicy. As juicy as the Faber-Castell Big Brush at the beginning of your video. @JaimeBedard7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! To help practice forming the letters, I would try working on faux calligraphy. That way you can plan out how the letters are formed and get used to what part is thick and what part is thin. Other than that, just keep practicing and you'll get there!

Jaime, your handwriting and overall aesthetics inspires me so so much! I am loving every video you make for us, and your bullet journal is just so delicious to look at. Unfortunately I can't find Crayolas easily here where I like, so I went for a Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen B, and I'm making my way around it. It is surely not the best for beginners, but I'm in love. I've been using your calligraphy as inspiration and practice. For a future video maybe you could do a ''Spread with me'' kinda thing, were you just show us doing a quote, doodle or whichever you would feel like sharing!
@JaimeBedard7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Filipa! I'll definitely do a plan with me in the future! That's too bad that you can't find Crayolas there. Hopefully there's an alternative! I love this Faber-Castell marker, but it's definitely a little tricky to get the hang of. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for posting this video. I am struggling with the thick downstrokes: how hard are you pressing down with your Crayola marker? Does the tip get softened after a while? My downstrokes don't seem as thick as yours.
@JaimeBedard7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Therese! Yes, I press down pretty hard with my Crayola markers and try to rotate the marker so I'm not always pressing down on the same spot. I hope that helps!
