An interesting tidbit...in the first version of Jaipur one of the Camel cards has a dead panda on it. It was a easter egg because that year Zooleretto won the award for best game and it was a joke that the developer put on the card to show the other developer what he thought about his opponents win. LOL

thnk that the colours between the chips / cards in the old version are easier to distinguish. In the new one the brown looks like gold, and the silver and purple are similar.

Is there difference with the insert? Mainly, will the new one fit sleeved cards? The old one doesn't and that's kinda annoying.

Hello Beam0543. The insert is larger and will fit cards with Ultra Pro penny sleeves. However, the top left and right edges will bend in. The insert is deeper as well.

I am not aware it has an official purpose. A BGG user stated using it to determine who goes first at the beginning of the game.
