1. to pick up where one left off
- Let's pick up where we left off.
- We could do this all night. Let's call it a day. We'll pick up where we left off tomorrow.
2. to put something on hold
- Let's put this on hold.
- I had to put all my personal plans on hold.
3. to drop something / everything to attend to more pressing matters
- Listen up everybody. Dr. Kramer is arriving in less than an hour. You know how he is a messy office. Drop what you're doing now and tidy this place up.
- How could you say that? I've always been there for you. Anytime you needed me, I dropped everything to help you.
4. to open up (about something / to someone)
- You should definitely try therapy. I understand it can be difficult to open up to someone you don't know. But once you get past that, it's so worth it.
- Did you read her book? There was a lot I didn't know about her. I was especially surprised at how much she opened up about her experience with addiction.
5. get through to someone (to get someone to listen and comply)
- You're never going to get through to him like that.
- 15? That's a difficult age. I remember when my kids were that age. I didn't have much trouble with my daughter, but no matter what I did, I just couldn't get through to my son. It was like we spoke different languages.

역시 아카데미님 영상 좋네요~~~ 여기서 배우는 표현들 진짜 좋네요! 제가 곧 미국으로 장기여행으로 가야되는데 영어회화를 지금 열심히 배우는 중인데 제가 영어회화를 연습하고 있는 언어교환101에서 유튭 영상에서 배운 베이직 표현들을 실제 원어민들 앞에서 써보고 하니까 확실히 피드백도 빠르고 입밖으로 뱉어보니까 더 기억이 잘남는것 같더라구요ㅎㅎ

It’s been a while since you've uploaded a new video. Today's expressions are all familiar to me, but the examples are great for practice. I remember this in the book called '빨라영': Something came up at work and it looks like I'm going to have to put my travel plans on hold for now. When I notice you're in the Discord lounge, I drop everything and jump into a conversation with you.
