The Jak & Daxter 4 we never got. Here's a fan-made concept teaser trailer I did for my dream Jak & Daxter sequel using various movie clips - you can see the list in the description. This is more of a mood piece, to showcase the kind of vibe I'd like to see. To be honest, I would make it slightly more cartoony, but still, this is the vibe and overall aesthetic I would go for! I miss this franchise dearly and I strongly believe a new entry could be absolutely breathtaking in this day and age. An epic sci-fi/fantasy open-world adventure with modern technology that would take full advantage of the PS5, what's not to like? I saw lots of people claim that Naughty Dog "outgrew" this series so I wanted to prove the value and the underestimated potential of a Jak revival. For this new game, I envisioned a bigger focus on space exploration during which Jak and Daxter would travel to a brand-new world built by the Precursors - which was highly hinted at in Jak 3. The threat? A tyrannical organization made of Dark Makers worshipers that somehow turned Dark Eco into a weapon of mass destruction available to the highest bidder. I would also love to see this new game iterate on the whole sky pirate theme introduced in The Lost Frontier. There are so many ways a new Jak could go and I hope this trailer conveys that potential.

@@ichiban108 You're almost right: Daxter's whole character is obnoxious sidekick; in The Precursor Legacy he's pretty much just a horny teenager with a bit of an ego that often gets knocked by his cowardice. In Jak II onwards he's kinda the same but he's also more like that one dude at the bar who thinks he's hot shit but in reality most of the bar just thinks he's full of himself. His big mouth also gets him into trouble a lot more. All of which makes the big twist near the end of Jak 3 a lot funnier. Based on this I'd say he doesn't necessarily need to be sexist, though I wouldn't really be bothered either way; Daxter has admirable traits and less than admirable traits about his character. His more arrogant traits are less than admirable but his ability to perform selfless acts as Jak's friend is amazingly admirable; dude literally broke into a high security prison to rescue Jak.

Yes, I was going for that :) The end of Jak 3 hints at the idea of traveling to other worlds created by the Precursors, so I would love for a new game to fully embrace this idea of epic space travel.

Just made HD remasters of them instead of investing in a new game. It seems such a waste, Just like Toys for Bob with Spyro, we haven't had a Spyro 4, same with Rayman, Croc etc.

Amazing but I just want an big open world (gta-style) Jak and Daxter game. (Not Mass-Effect style) Imagine a sequel: JAKX II where you can move around different cities (Kras city, Spargus, Haven, frontier…)and choose (and modify) your vehicles with different headquarters. You could do action RPG missions and do racing. Stealth missions when Daxter is involved. Improved combat (fist and swords) & improved shooting (guns & blast). Halfway trough the game you unlock airplanes (like in the Lost Frontier) and travel the world/space. New powers with (maybe) different ecos (that’s Kiera’s mission in the last game). New Worlds to explore and of course the Jet Board.

A potential Jak 4 could redefine the platformer genre, and we could get one that targets an older audience. For the artstyle, imagine if it adapted Arcane's style while mixing it with the old artstyle. With the PS5's super-fast SSD, we could get a much more creatively realized world since disc read speeds and HDD speeds hindered open-world design which was the case for Jak 2's Haven City with all of the twisty passage ways that helped load other nearby areas. The SSD could also allow players to traverse the world at break neck speed. Imagine scaling up massive futuristic buildings with a rebuilt Hoverboard from Jak 2&3. I'm saying all of because this gen and onwards are the perfect time to bring back Jak and Daxter in an epic way more than ever due to the degree of freedom Naughty Dog has with current technology. It could not only elevate the series, but Naughty Dog as a developer as well. However, this is a massive if, so it might not ever happen.

The thing to remember about the big 3 Jak games is that they changed the genre slightly with each new game. Precursor Legacy, for the most part, has a rural 1940s(ish) steampunk setting with the cyberpunk stuff being reserved for precursor building. Jak II had a full on Cyberpunk dystopian setting. Jak 3 is a combination of Cyberpunk and post apocalyptic. In a way it would be interesting to see Jak 4 set in a hyperfuturistic setting almost akin to No Man's Sky where technology has reached a stage that allows you to literally build whatever you can dream of. Having said that, this trailer has made me realise that the only setting this series hasn't really experimented with is a technologically advanced utopian setting with towers climbing over the clouds. The kinda setting you'd probably see in the hayday of the precursors. Just imagine that; a full sized precursor city. Also, writing wise, it is still possible that the precursors weren't always ottsels, just throwing that out there. As for the art style: I'm amazed that Naughty Dog got stuck on this because it's so obvious; use the pseudo-anime style they used for the original games but just make the textures and materials more detailed and get some HDR lighting in there.

This is why they didnt make jak 4 because its no longer recognizable. What a concept needed was proof that Jak and daxter looks good in higher quality we didnt even see proof of that here. Developers were worried jaks style was to cartoony to fit in with higher graphics so they switched to Uncharted which i was number one on world leaderboards and last of us to increase graphics

The dark eco has grown so overwhelming that its become unstopable, only jack with his light eco abilities and best friend daxter can fight the monstrosities that lurk within, I'd imagine aliens that have made peace with the people and are living in the ocean, arena racing and hoverboard x games have become a universal pass times, this should be the concept its very well made.

This is insane!! Even though it's a mishmash of various clips, placed together they form an intriguing mosaic. I also miss this franchise dearly! and yes, the lost frontier should have been made for the PS3 (but it's still a great game though).. I also feel sorry for other dormant franchises (sony exclusives or not) like resistance and prince of persia. Between 15 and 20 years ago videogame studios were more daring... they would take more chances, risk more... now they're all afraid to either lose money or offend someone

What I mean is I find it difficult to see Daxter running around with his iconic quips without feeling out of place. I can see in Jak 2 & 3 the difference balancing act ND had and I think the cartoony style did a lot of the heavy lifting. I’m not saying I’m right! With a LOT of hard work in the writing room with amazingly talented writers anything can work.
