What Happened To Jak And Daxter?

Jak & Daxter have seemingly been abandoned, despite the community and fans of the series being just as active today as they were in 2004. Today, we are going to take a look at the series overall, and then try and understand why the series has gone into hibernation, and of course answer the raging question: is there hope for a relaunch? I really wish they'd bring back/revive the Jak and Daxter series. The first game is a personal favourite among the original trilogy. I still love it so much to this day. The second are third games were also good. I even remember playing the spin-off game Daxter on my PSP back in the day. Even if the first 3 games got a remake, I'd still be content with that over nothing at all. Although a brand new J&D game after all this time being dormant would be more preferable/desirable.

I don't think the current Naughty Dog could even make a Jak 4. Quite a few of the original creators have left the company and the studio has gone off in a different direction. It's a shame, though, because the series has great lore.

I hope one day Naughty Dog and Sony can enlist the trust of a studio to remake the Jak and Daxter trilogy since I personally have never played them. Also, I hope this 'What Happened to...' series continues cause it's very intriguing to watch. I would LOVE to see a video in this series on the InFAMOUS, Sly Cooper and Resistance franchises.

Damn I miss this series. The only thing I regret is not being able to unlock the Dexter car in Jak X. But the fact that existed was awesome and I wish they’d bring them back with some kind of reward for playing the last ones. This is a series that I 100% all of them(with the exception of the Dexter car)

My first console was a ps2 that me and my brothers got for Christmas and the first game we had was Jak and Daxter i will always be a fan. I loved how when we got older and matured so did the series i couldnt believe the sheer contrast between playing the percursor legacy then playing Jak 2. I will never give up on my hopes of a Jak 4.

Jak and Daxter played a major part of my teen years of gaming. I remember when I won Jak 2 in a Toonami sweepstakes. I was so amped! Love the series and played all the way to Combat Racing. I missed out on the original series back then because I was primarily a GameCube player and not a PS2 player. I think a Jak & Daxter remake trilogy can work in the 9th-generation since there’s room for both linear action-platforming games AND non-linear, stylized action-platforming games.

when I was a little kid, I would play though these games so many times over.. after a while I would just start walking around the battle zones in Jak 3, protecting citizens and RPing that I was apart of the battle, RPing long before I ever even knew that was. I will never forgot how warm those moments made me on the inside.. and it makes me so sad that this series has gotten 0 love for so many years from its creators.

Jake and Daxter 1 was just an amazing game still now just as much as it was back then. I can't tell you how many times I would replay the all 3 games a long with Rachet and Clank. The early 2000's games hit differently back when everything was coming out and changing up. Every time I replay jak 2 (even more so if I played 1 before firing up 2) it triggers the same feeling/memories of when I fired up jak 2 for the first time. Such a great twist imo There needs to be a jak and daxter collection for pc

Jak and Daxter was the first video game i've ever played, and for years I didn't have a memory card so I would always replay it. Later on I would leave my ps2 on for days at a time till I got back to my dads to finish the game. This games movement also just feels so much better than most modern games a remake would be amazing.

I remember playing the Jak games as kid. I barely remember the first Jak and Daxter game but I absolutely loved Jak II. The change in the tone in gameplay was memorable but my 11 year old self thought it was the coolest thing ever. Jak 3 was even better and I have fond memories of that game as well. I remember back then I didn't hear about anyone who didn't like the tone shift from the first to Jak II. In my opinion, it was the right move.

Honestly i think a soft reboot or new story direction after jak 3 would work in the same setting. Introduce light rpg mechanics for platforming/eco based skills and gun/vehicle development through crafting, materials, money, XP etc. in line with the core mechanics from the original trilogy. Maybe something similar to what gears did with the locust into the swarm could be done with the metal heads for a new enemy archetype.

the first jak and daxter game i played as a kid was the lost frontier on the PSP. call it not good, call it bad. that game has a special place in my memories and i loved it though i wish you could use all the upgrades and stuff i got after completing the game just going around the world etc but i digress. i did find the older games and played 2 and 3.

This is my first game that I ever played on my own and beat. This whole series is so special to my heart, and I would really love to see it get the attention. It deserves instead of naughty dog, giving all of it to the last of us. (Don’t get me wrong. The last of us is also a masterpiece, but this is quite literally the definition of a hidden gem.)

Sony's negligence and Naughty Dog's priorities over Uncharted 2, because they were working on Jak And Daxter The Lost Frontier at the same time as Uncharted 2 the most logical move would have been was to finish one game first then the other,but no they worked on Lost Frontier half way and passed it to another studio to finished what they started and the end result not many people liked Lost Frontier

Sony Interactive Entertainment gives their studios complete creative freedom how is that "negligence" Naughty Dog prioritizing Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is not "negligence" when they realized they could not juggle two projects at once so it was better to pass the smaller scale one after cancelling it to another studio that would revive it to fully focus on what they wanted That's not how video game development works nor the idea behind contracting said studio to be able to focus entirely on a new project Guess what if Naughty Dog tried to juggle both at once neither would have released

They tried to make Jak 4 but then realized the game they wanted to make didn't uphold the vibe/feeling of Jak... it would be a game that the fans most likely would not like if they called it Jak 4... so they stopped making it.

I love these games and i dont think they need to adjust much just show us the workings as jak takes on the role of mar, show us what he had to do to build the city show us how he overcame whatever adversities to become this large figure! Take us back to the og map and begin to expand it to the haven city! Id love to go back as the jak 3 version and go back to build his haven! Take out metal head, dark makers and lurkers! Show us how he made this circle loop!

Fyi, Lost Frontier is actually mainline J&D series, it's considered the fourth main entry and was supposed to be the start of a new trilogy. And while most people hate it outright, I thought it was okay except for the overly tedious dogfighting. It was a main mechanic to get around mind you but it did get old real fast with only slight variations on what you had to do in say the boss fights. I'm still waiting on that slightly more than rumored remake coming, as developers stated that the easter egg in R&C:RA for Jak and Daxter wasnt only a nostalgia hit and they were trying to get a new series off the ground for it. That was at least a year or two ago though but with how amazing Crash 4 wound up not to mention Rift Apart, I expect at the least a multi-console rerelease of the series in the next year or two. Preferably only to Jak X but again I wouldnt mind screwing around through Lost Frontier again either

A Jak trilogy full remake needs to happen. Do like they need Crash and make it ported to all consoles (switch would be a killer saler for Jak and Dexter due to the platform still being extremely huge for the console and it would be a huge success

This was my childhood. Me and my sister played Spyro and the first Kingdom Heart's. Me and my cousin played Sly Cooper, Giant Citizen, Kinetica, and Jak and Daxter. Man I miss late 90s and early 2000s.
