The malls here will be always the same. The lower ground is always food and supermarket. The food court will be on the higher or top floor with cinema. In between are clothes, shoes, furniture and sporadic higher price restaurants. I think most of Asia will be on this floor arrangement template 😂. Having lived in Jakarta, Manila, and now Bangkok, I can confirm that this has ALOT to do with the weather, the lack of good quality green space, and lack of well maintained cultural centres (e.g. musuems). Sadly, most people have to fall back on malls as only the rich can afford to go to local places where you can access such things that are typically much easier to access in more developed countries. After the initial glitz is well worn, it becomes abit soul-less and just a place to buy stuff and enjoy the aircon.
@ankokunokayoubi2 жыл бұрын
Having art museums, regular music concerts, libraries, city park-styled event at malls? The obstacles could be the annual cost and lack of people's interest in stuffs like that.

The lack quality of green space ?? really ?? Merdeka square was one of largest square in the world , and there are many museum across jakarta like National Museum, Wayang Museum,Textile Museum, National Gallery museum etc . @@dyahwijaya1641 well compared to developed countries, in Indonesia we have much less open green space indeed
@pokeken2 жыл бұрын
@@APmyre No hate here but even looking beyond comparison of m2, it is the poor design & maintenance of open green spaces and places of art that really makes such places less attractive for city dwellers in the SE Asia cities that I mention. Most parks have poor types of grass that are not comfortable to rest upon (I appreciate hardy grass is needed for hotter climates) and coverage is barely 60/70% with large patches of bare soil that no one can utilise. Children’s play areas are limited, old, and sometimes dangerous due to lack of maintenance. As for museums, they just don’t have public funds to hold a frequent series of quality exhibitions as entrance fees are suppressed and creates a circular effect. Sad truth for those (rightly) proud of their country but it is what it is.
@pokeken2 жыл бұрын
@@ankokunokayoubi certainly the lack of public funds (most are run by governments) is a big cause as they can’t design/maintain such facilities and governments always suppress entrance fees. I don’t think it’s a lack of interest as many locals travel far to places like Yogyakarta/Chiangmai/CCP venues in the Philippines, but out of reach for many without funds.

About the egg. In Japan, the eggs are sorted thoroughly since they were picked up from the farm. Japanesse eat raw eggs with hot rice and the salmonella worries are almost none. In Indonesia, though, sorting eggs since the farm is not that common. So... But im sure in the mall that big the kitchens need to reach a certain level of quality so maybe it's alright.

eggs boiled like the one on the video most likely already kill the salmonella no need special eggs, they are actually pretty easy to kill… but yeah not all eggs are infected with salmonella, google says 1 out of 20 000 eggs are contaminated, in indonesia probably just bit more than that.. and don’t forget the egg in some restaurants like ramen restaurants are pasteurized.
@ChemySh2 жыл бұрын
yeah, cooking eggs like that tend to be risky in Indo because we dont have the quality control and accountability system that Japan has (I heard you can even scan barcodes and find out which exact farm the animal product you're buying is from). Therefore, runny eggs tend to be only at classy places. While RamenYa isnt quite classy price-wise, they're definitely gunning for quality on par with the real expensives (think Hakkata Ikkousha, Marugame). That said, in all my years cooking runny eggs at home I've never been poisoned probably because I only buy pricier eggs. Then again, years of eating street food cooked over literal sewer drains might've contributed to the ol immune system...

In Indonesia, there's only 1 line far from the residence. They put on stations in office areas and entertainment areas. I don't mean there's no alternative other than MRT, but mostly they are low-quality transportation, and there are a lot of thieves too. That's why it's rare for people to walk around outside.

The reasons the mall in Jakarta become the place for people to hang out is due to the lack of public spaces so it's actually kinda sad.

@@AdamVenturesTravel They revamped the food court a few years ago. Now imo it’s one of the fanciest food court mall in town. Ngl, it kinda gives you fancy hotel restaurant vibes. I’d just sit there for hours with my KFC wings lol

In Indonesia having a trip outside is quite dangerous with many thugs and scammers around and too much pollution thats why its common to have big malls for shops and restaurants to visit to be safer and other indoor shop places while in America or overseas its safer to walk around town

well i'm 2 months late to comment but you should visit other malls for even better foods, there is plaza senayan next to you with more selections, also pesto in senayan city is very good for non halal pasta, but then again as for malls :D my mall experience in america is much more limited compared to indonesia, mostly only huge department stores or a shopping arcade style with maximum 3 floors of shopping spaces

I'm not a fan of mall sightseeing cause I feel like that's just an illusion or mirage kind of thing 😂 Man, I wish Indonesia has more open public space with lots of greeneries to combat the hot weather. That'll be really nice. Nice vlog though. Your vlog popped up on my KZbin recommended vids. Maybe because my office is nearby? I was a screaming inside when you said you didnt find any food on the high floor, lol😂. Man that's where the foodcourt is. But the LG floor also has various restaurant. Btw ramen ya is actually not a really nice choice IMO 😂, you could try Hakata Ikkousha on the next visit. Have a nice stay in Jkt!

Malls in Indonesia = extra giant Macy's Dept. Store which has almost everything from boutiques,films (or theatres whichever word you use),kids playground,cheap food stalls, cafes, expensive chain restaurants, Starbucks (some even have three in the same place >> I'm looking at you, Surabaya Tunjungan Plaza!),chemist (pharmacy/drugstore), and some giant supermarket. Most malls in Indonesia are air-conditioned given the ultra humid and hot climate. I hope you enjoy your stay here!

oh my god. i was just ranting about malls a few days ago. i'm from jakarta and goes to university in the US and i'm ashamed to say i'm so deprived of jakarta-level malls over there😭 back here you can just go to a mall to get food and look at anything when you're bored, in the US you HAVE to have a goal when you go to a mall, or else you'll _get_ bored.
