I didn’t catch it on the original upload, but did on this rewatch. No surprise because it barely qualifies as a joke. It’s all punchline and you only get it if you make the connection on your own. No hand holding, no pointing it out by Jake, just a throwaway connection between two lines that could easily be interpreted as unrelated. Amir has made it clear over the years that he doesn’t need a clever segue to throw down a line like that. Funding someone’s invisalign and holding it over them with no further context given is 100% in character, so the fact that this one has more to it is hidden beneath the shadow of Amir’s infinite potential to generate chaos.

The new episodes pick up steam halfway through, but they could probably start stronger. A regular release schedule would help greatly, as well as further Jake & Amir as characters.
